About the role
Production Engineering Manager (Mid Body - Tooling) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is seeking an Equipment and Tooling Engineering Manager to join the Boeing South Carolina 787 Production Engineering team in support of production assets, tooling solutions and factory support in one of the 787 fabrication and assembly business units. This position is located in North Charleston, South Carolina . Position Responsibilities : • Manages Tool Engineering Team to support production on the 787. • Leads team that supports both mechanical and automated tooling used for aircraft composite fabrication and assembly. • Responsible for the successful implementation of high priority improvement and safety projects on schedule and within budget • Supports production on tooling issues such as usage instruction, repair maintenance, and troubleshooting. • Manages resources to maintain adequate production support to prevent work stoppages or delays. • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process and safety improvements. • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports. • Manages, develops, and motivates employees. • Develops and implements integrated departmental plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. • Forecasts, obtains, and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools to meet project and departmental requirements. • Coaches, counsels, mentors, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities of first-level managers and others within their department. • Provides on-going developmental feedback. • Promotes employee recognition and builds a departmental culture that improves employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforce. • Provides input on the development of departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives, and related metrics to ensure alignment with Company vision/strategy. • Establishes partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports. • Builds strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to resolve problems, improve processes or achieve goals. • Create a culture of continuous improvement by communicating/deploying enterprise best practices and employee engagement to improve cost, quality, delivery, employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) : • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership." • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): • 1+ years of experience within the Boeing Production system including engineering, planning, logistics, tooling, test equipment, support equipment, functional test, and flight. • Production asset and/or Tool Engineering experience in Aerospace Fabrication and Assembly preferred. • Management experience
