About the role
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve. We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that. Here’s what this particular role covers. 🛠️ About our Onboard Experience Team We’re looking for a Product Designer to shape digital in-vehicle experiences for Wayve’s development and demonstration fleet. Your work will span tools used by trained vehicle operators during testing and validation, as well as guest-facing interfaces that help people understand and experience Wayve’s enriched ADAS and automated-driving technology. You’ll join a supportive, experienced design environment and partner closely with Product, Engineering and Operations. Together, you’ll explore new ways for people to understand and interact with autonomous-driving technology. 🧠 Your day-to-day You’ll own defined product features from discovery through delivery, combining user insight, interaction design and strong visual craft. You’ll conduct research and usability testing, translate complex technical and operational requirements into intuitive experiences, and create detailed designs ready for implementation. You’ll also think beyond the screen, considering how visual interfaces, sound, haptics and lighting can work together to make complex technology clear, accessible and easy to use. 🧩 What you’ll be working on • Conducting research, observation and usability testing with operators, guests and customers • Translating user needs, complex technology and operational requirements into clear journeys, workflows and interactions • Applying inclusive and accessible design principles across a broad range of needs, abilities and contexts • Designing cohesive experiences across visual interfaces, sound, haptics and lighting • Creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and polished, production-ready designs • Defining interaction states, edge cases and feedback in sufficient detail for implementation • Collaborating with stakeholders to balance user needs, product goals and technical constraints • Reviewing implementation, resolving design issues and maintaining a high-quality bar for the finished experience • Contributing reusable interaction and visual patterns across Wayve’s vehicle-related products 🙌 You should apply if • Your portfolio demonstrates strong interaction and visual/UI craft, including the ability to make complex information and interactions clear without losing important detail • You understand inclusive and accessible design and how different needs and contexts can shape an experience • You have strong wireframing and prototyping skills and can choose the appropriate level of fidelity for the problem • You bring curiosity and sound judgement, and you’re comfortable questioning assumptions, exploring different approaches and working through ambiguity and constraints • You communicate clearly and can explain the reasoning behind your design decisions • You have experience owning product problems through discovery, design, validation and delivery • You have planned and conducted user research or usability testing and applied what you learned • You have collaborated closely with product managers and engineers throughout the product-development process Experience in the following areas would be useful but is not required: • Designing interfaces that connect people with complex, real-time or physical systems, including automotive, mobility, gaming, robotics, industrial products, kiosks or other interactive machines • Working in constrained environments where hardware, safety, attention or context place limits on interaction design • Designing ope
