About the role

Sustainability Accounting Advisor Position Summary This position supports the Sustainability Accounting team at The Cigna Group by ensuring the integrity of the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) disclosures through executing data validation, control assessments and audit procedures of both operational (general metrics) and environmental (e.g., GHG emissions) data. This role supports internal validation and compliance objectives by performing sampling, testing, and documentation reviews in accordance with established procedures and sustainability guidelines, while assisting the team in making continual improvements and the regulatory sustainability landscape continues to change. The position plays a critical role in ensuring data integrity across financial, operational, and sustainability reporting, including alignment with regulatory and voluntary frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This role bridges traditional audit disciplines and emerging ESG reporting requirements, ensuring consistency, audit readiness, and data integrity across the enterprise. Job Description & Responsibilities • Perform audit sampling and testing procedures across general sustainability and environmental metrics and/or internal controls to validate completeness and accuracy. • Review supporting documentation and evidence to ensure compliance with Inventory Management Plan (IMP) and applicable reporting standards. • Evaluate reported metrics against underlying data sources and identify discrepancies, gaps, or inconsistencies. • Validate environmental and sustainability data (including GHG emissions) in alignment with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and other methodologies. • Review and validate data within reporting systems (e.g., Workiva Carbon module or similar platforms). • Document audit procedures, findings, and conclusions in a clear manner. • Develop and communicate recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements. • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to clarify reporting inputs, assumptions, and validation requirements. • Support recurring audit cycles and maintain comprehensive audit documentation for internal and external review. Background and Experience Required • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Finance required • Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant CPA preferred, but not required • 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental, ESG or sustainability reporting or ESG data validation (including GHG emissions) required • Expertise with Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint required. Experience with ESG reporting platforms such as Workiva Sustainability, Workiva Assurance or Workiva Carbon a plus • Familiarity with ESG data governance, internal controls, or regulatory reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, ISSB, or similar). Competencies / Skills: • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow procedures while being comfortable asking questions to critically assess the outcomes • Ability to document audit work clearly and support audit conclusions • Effective oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple groups across the organization (collaboration) • Strong analytical skills with the ability to validate data sets against supporting documentation • Familiarity with reviewing processes for completeness, accuracy, and compliance • Experience with audit methodologies, including sampling and testing techniques • Exposure to environmental reporting frameworks (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol and/or CSRD) • Understanding of GHG emissions data, calculation inputs, and validation concepts • Ability to learn new systems and software tools About Evernorth Health Services Evernorth Health Services, a d
