About the role

Job Description The Role As a Facilities Engineer you will support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of GM’s Kokomo facilities. You will serve as the site electrical subject-matter expert and partner with maintenance, construction, operations, contractors, suppliers, and utility providers. What You’ll Do • Lead electrical safety, Electrical Safe Work Practices, medium-voltage, lockout/energy control, and substation maintenance activities. • Provide daily technical support to electricians, maintenance teams, construction partners, and plant operations. • Plan and coordinate maintenance, vendor support, construction activities, and electrical improvement projects. • Own electrical safety, machine guarding, and lockout/energy control audit performance, including gap assessments and corrective actions. • Support utility reliability, power quality, distribution issues, service interruptions, and root-cause analysis. • Manage assigned projects, suppliers, contractors, budgets, schedules, and Project Delivery Tool requirements. • Develop asset sustainment plans and support facility condition assessments. • Maintain accurate electrical drawings, CADD files, as-built documentation, and project records. • Support safety audits, observation tours, site meetings, emergency-light inspections, and other compliance activities. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience. • Three or more years of experience with industrial electrical systems. • Experience with medium-voltage systems, substations, or utility infrastructure." needs to be in the Required Qualifications section • Experience with electrical design, maintenance, operations, and project execution. • Experience with low-voltage power distribution. • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage work involving contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Five or more years of Facilities Engineering experience. • Experience with medium-voltage systems, substations, or utility infrastructure. • Familiarity with NFPA 70E and Electrical Safe Work Practices. • Experience with electrical safety, machine guarding, or lockout/energy control audits. • Experience managing salaried or hourly personnel. • Professional engineering license, certification, or advanced engineering degree.
