About the role
This isn’t your regular job. Almedia is a place where those who want to push harder can accelerate their careers faster than anywhere else. We’re aiming to become Germany’s second bootstrapped unicorn. Almedia is already Europe’s #3 fastest-growing company in 2025 (FT1000). We are building the future of marketing by rewarding our community of over 95 million users for engaging with our advertisers’ products. We are offering a new way to acquire users for the biggest companies in the world. At Almedia, you’ll: • Own way more, way earlier — you’ll be trusted with responsibility fast. • Push harder, get further — this isn’t a 9–5. We highly reward intensity. • Join a rare environment — you will work with ambitious high-speed, high-ownership people. • Fully present — we’re 5 days a week in the office to build the energising momentum we need. We're looking for a Director of Finance to own Almedia's entire finance function and make the company investment- and exit-ready. You'll take a profitable, fast-growing business and build the finance foundation that would hold up to any investor, acquirer or auditor: clean books, a fast close, reliable reporting, sharp planning and full control of cash. This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll set the strategy with the founders and still be close enough to the numbers to fix a reconciliation yourself. You'll start as a strong individual owner and build the team as the company grows. Salary: 120-150k • Total Comp: 200k • Includes Equity What you'll Do 🎯 • Own the finance function end to end. Accounting, month-end close, controlling, tax and audit, working with our external partners and building the in-house team over time. • Make Almedia investment- and exit-ready. Build the reporting, controls, data room quality and financial narrative a top-tier investor or acquirer would expect, and lead any financing or transaction process when it comes. • Lead FP&A. Run budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning, and turn them into clear, decision-grade input for the founders and team leads. • Run cash, treasury and unit economics. Manage liquidity, payment flows and working capital across a global, high-volume marketplace, and keep margins and payout economics under tight control. • Build systems that scale. Choose and implement the tooling, processes and controls that let finance keep pace with a company growing this fast. • Partner on strategic decisions. Support M&A, partnerships and build-vs-buy evaluations with the financial analysis needed to decide quickly. What you'll bring 💡 • You've owned a finance function. 8+ years in finance, including several years as Head of Finance, VP Finance, Finance Director or CFO at a scale-up of roughly 30–1,000 people. • You've made a company investment- or exit-ready. You have led a company through a funding round, due diligence, an audit or an exit, and built what that required. • You're well-rounded. Hands-on experience across accounting and close, controlling, FP&A and cash management. Strategic finance, fundraising or M&A experience is a strong plus. • You're a builder. You've set up finance processes, systems and reporting from scratch, not just maintained them. • You're hands-on and fast. You'll own the numbers yourself and stay pragmatic and high-ownership in a fast-moving environment. • You communicate clearly. You can explain the numbers simply to founders, team leads, investors and auditors. What makes you a Great fit 🌟 • You've been the person who turned "the books are a bit messy" into "we're ready for any investor or buyer." • You're as comfortable in a close checklist as in a board deck. • You want full ownership and the speed of a founder-led company, not a large finance organisation. • Bonus: experience with marketplace,
