About the role
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: The Principal, Strategic Finance & Analytics, Incubations role will partner closely with business, product, and analytics leaders across Luxe, Monthly Stays, and Airbnb for Business. This role will directly support the investment decisions behind Airbnb's fastest growing emerging businesses. The Difference You Will Make: As a Principal in Strategic Finance & Analytics supporting Luxe, Monthly Stays, and Airbnb for Business, you will be highly visible and partner with senior leaders across each business to accelerate their path to scale. You will become the subject matter expert on the economics of these businesses, including how demand and supply are acquired, what they cost, and what they return. You will bring a strong point of view on where we should be investing more, where we should be investing differently, and what we need to prove before we invest at all. This role requires a strong commercial mindset, with the ability to size opportunities, evaluate returns, and translate performance and funnel insight into clear business implications and strategic recommendations for senior leadership. Because these are incubation businesses, the analytical foundation often does not yet exist, so you will build it. The ideal candidate relishes the opportunity to roll up their sleeves, and is a self-starter comfortable embracing the adventure of a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. A Typical Day: • Investment Decision Support: Build the business cases behind major investment decisions across Luxe, Monthly Stays, and Airbnb for Business. Size the opportunity, model the returns, and frame the tradeoffs so leadership can decide where to place bets and how large those bets should be • Performance Management: Own end to end performance management for the incubation portfolio, including forecasting, goal and OKR setting, and executive reporting. Build scalable reporting frameworks that connect early signals to revenue and long term value • Full Funnel Analytics: Track and analyze full funnel performance across demand and supply for each business. Identify where the funnel leaks, why, and what it is worth to fix • Unit Economics and Scalability: Establish and pressure test the unit economics of each business. Determine which parts of the model improve with scale, which do not, and what needs to be true for these businesses to become material contributors • Capital Allocation Across the Portfolio: Assess how investment is allocated across the incubation businesses relative to their potential. Recommend reallocation where returns and readiness diverge from where capital is going today • Presentations to Leadership: Synthesize complex data into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leadership. Influence cross functional stakeholders to drive alignment on high impact investment and operating decisions Your Expertise: • 10+ years of relevant experience. Ideally, you have demonstrated relevant experience in an analytical role such as strategic finance, strategy/management consulting, investment banking, financial planning and analysis, business operations, or private equity • Advanced SQL proficiency with the ability to independently extract, analyze, and synthesize data • Superb financial modeling skills and extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative financial analysis • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
