About the role
Job Description This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum. The Role This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative team focused on propulsion-related system models, including thermal, hydraulic, lubrication, and ventilation domains. Build 1D fluid dynamics and coarse 3D thermal models that support design development, validation, and the reduction of hardware testing. Simulations include battery cells, battery packs, drive units, electric motors, power electronics, combustion engines, and transmission-related systems. What You'll Do • Conceptualize, build, and exercise analytical system-level models for electrified and conventional propulsion systems using 1D software tools such as GT-SUITE, AMESIM, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar. • Integrate plant models from different domains into larger system-level models capable of Software-in-the-Loop or Hardware-in-the-Loop co-simulation. • Provide component-level and system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on analysis results. • Contribute to improving analysis practices and tools to enhance prediction fidelity and execution speed. • Collaborate with analysis counterparts across several VDDV teams representing global propulsion systems and vehicle engineering. • Participate in mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities with TCS India colleagues and new team members. • Support technical problem resolution by leveraging simulation and analysis results. • Contribute to efficiency improvement projects, including the development of automation tools using Python or MATLAB. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. • 2+ years of experience with simulation, design, testing, or release of propulsion-related systems or hardware. • Experience with GT-SUITE, AMESIM, or similar software. • Working knowledge of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing. • Ability to interpret analysis results and communicate technical recommendations. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with coursework in heat transfer or fluid mechanics. • Experience with test-to-model correlation processes and variation analysis. • Experience with programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or similar software. • Experience with Siemens NX CAD modeling. • Familiarity with AI/ML methods or agentic workflows.
