About the role

Your creative field We are looking for a full-time , permanent Web Developer (all genders) to start as soon as possible . We live remote-first within Germany , but you have the freedom to choose whether you want to work hybrid or completely on-site due to your proximity to one of our locations. What makes a good web developer? Not just that they code beautifully – but that they also know everything is still running at 3 a.m. Here, you work according to the "you build it, you run it" principle: full ownership, a modern tech stack, and AI-assisted development that lets you actively shape the architecture of our website. That's exactly who we're looking for. Not a developer who hands off their code and then watches what happens to it, but someone who builds it, runs it, and stands behind it. For us, "you build it, you run it" isn't a saying that sounds nice – it's everyday reality:  you write a feature, test it, push it live, and if something wobbles afterward, you're the one who sets it straight again. Not because no one else is around, but because you know best what you built. No blame game, no ticket disappearing into another team's queue, no "that's not my problem anymore" – real ownership, from the first commit to stable operation in production. What does that look like in practice? On a typical day, you work on new features for our website, often supported by AI-assisted, agentic coding – not as a gimmick, but as a completely normal tool in your everyday work. You exchange ideas with the team, bring your own thinking to the architecture, and help make decisions rather than just implementing specs. You deploy through continuous delivery, keep an eye on how your code behaves in production, and when something isn't running smoothly, you dig into it yourself instead of waiting for someone else to. You work with a modern stack (Astro, SvelteKit, TypeScript) and have the freedom to actively shape the architecture of our website – not as a bystander, but as someone whose fingerprints are visible in the end result. We're not interested in celebrating process for its own sake; what matters to us is that good ideas find their way into production quickly: short paths, a lot of trust, and little bureaucracy. What convinces us Your personality, paired with:  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in web development (agency or in-house) • Strong, proven expertise with Astro, SvelteKit (SSG & SSR) and TypeScript • Experience with headless CMS (ideally PayloadCMS), Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) • Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (e.g. Claude, OpenCode) and an AI-forward mindset • Fluent German and English • IT-related education/degree or equivalent practical experience • A "you build it, you run it" mentality, paired with strong ownership and reliability • Strong analytical skills, clear goal- and results-orientation, and a genuine customer-first mindset • Team spirit, strong communication skills, and openness to change • Nice to have: Kubernetes, Docker, agile development processes, and terminal power-user skills (Neovim, tmux)     We know that you may not currently meet all the requirements. But if you come to us with the right amount of commitment and enthusiasm, we can take off together and make a big difference. Awesome Prospects At Contabo, we are constantly evolving. Our growth creates space for new ideas, ownership, and real impact for people who want to make a difference. What defines us is trust, direct communication, and an open feedback culture. We believe the best solutions are built together and that everyone has the opportunity to contribute, grow, and leave their own footprint. Additionally, we offer: • Work the way that fits your life – Remote or hybrid with flexible hours for a healthy work-life
