About the role The Senior Content Analyst, Standards & Practices reviews and analyzes anime, manga, and other content to determine appropriate ratings, classifications, descriptors, and audience advisories across multiple markets. Working within established Standards & Practices guidelines, rating frameworks, and escalation protocols, the analyst independently handles recurring content-review assignments and applies developing professional knowledge to cases that may require interpretation and judgment. The role maintains accurate ratings and content metadata, conducts research, documents decisions, and collaborates with team members to support consistent rating outcomes. Complex, novel, or high-risk matters are escalated to experienced team members or department management for guidance and final determination. Core Areas of Responsibility Content Review and Classification • Screen new simulcast titles, library content, digital manga, and other assigned content. • Prepare accurate and detailed content notes describing relevant visual, audio, narrative, and thematic elements. • Analyze content to determine appropriate ratings, classifications, content descriptors, and audience advisories for multiple regions. • Apply established internal standards, documented rating criteria, regulatory guidance, and market-specific requirements to assigned content. • Complete routine rating and classification decisions independently within established guidelines. • Recognize content that is unusual, ambiguous, particularly sensitive, or outside existing guidance and escalate it for further review. • Document the reasoning and supporting evidence for rating and advisory recommendations. • Perform quality checks to confirm that ratings, descriptors, and advisories accurately reflect the reviewed content. Ratings Data and Documentation • Maintain internal and external ratings databases and related content-classification records. • Enter, update, and validate ratings, descriptors, advisories, review notes, and supporting metadata accurately and on schedule. • Identify incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially inaccurate records and work with appropriate partners to resolve them. • Follow established documentation, naming, version-control, and data-quality practices. • Maintain clear records that allow rating decisions and updates to be understood and traced. • Support periodic audits or reconciliations of ratings and content-advisory data. Research and Analysis • Perform series, title, marketplace, cultural, regulatory, and ratings-system research to support content-review decisions. • Monitor assigned sources for changes in rating criteria, regulatory expectations, audience sensitivities, and market practices. • Assist department management with staying informed about shifting global attitudes toward content. • Summarize relevant research and explain its potential implications for assigned titles, markets, or rating decisions. • Identify recurring content themes or rating questions and share observations with the broader Standards & Practices team. • Apply critical thinking to distinguish established requirements from matters requiring additional interpretation or escalation.
