About the role
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About the Team
Anduril Australia's Dive-XL Platform team is building the software and systems that define how an extra-large autonomous undersea vehicle operates, navigates, and executes missions. The Platform pillar is responsible for the full vehicle stack, from embedded vehicle management and safe navigation through to the mission software layer that determines what the vehicle does, how it communicates, and how operators interact with it.
This role sits at the centre of how Dive-XL's software capabilities are shaped and delivered. You will work closely with stakeholders across Dive-XL Platform engineering, Maritime Enabling Technology, Maritime Application Development, and Program teams to drive product design, particularly around the software features delivered on the mission software layer. A key objective is championing operator experience for Dive-XL, translating operational needs into well-defined software requirements, and ensuring what gets built delivers real capability to the people who use these systems. If you want to own the "what" and the "why" for software on a platform that is actively deployed and scaling, this is the role.
About the Job
Software Product Managers develop a detailed understanding of user, customer, and business needs, define what to build, why to build it, then independently lead projects to integrate those software capabilities with our products. This includes autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control or decision support. We expect Software Product Managers to demonstrate end-to-end outcome ownership of one or more significant projects or products, driving work through our engineering governance process, co-ordinating and directly contributing to project execution, and managing adoption of the solution by internal and external customers. Our Software Product Managers will also provide tactical subject matter expertise to cross-functional engineering teams as required.
What You’ll Do
• Empathize with end-users and drive solutions that balance their needs with external constraints, restrictions and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment
• Be the voice of the user by developing informed empathy for end-users in the context of one or more steps in the lifecycle of un-crewed systems
• Advocate for Software Product Management within the teams you interact with. Support Software Engineers and Managers to develop empathy themselves by coaching user research best practices. Support senior leaders to develop empathy via guiding direct usage
• Be an expert on the existing and future planned product capabilities for your products
• Articulate detailed written product requirements for your area of focus, at different levels of product maturity, informed by your understanding of user, customer and business needs and constraints, existing solutions, and technical architecture
• Hold a high bar for visual design and information architecture, providing valuable input within a collaborative multi-stakeholder environment that inclu
