US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Consultant to join our team, supporting a Senior Managing Director in resolving complex client issues related to facades, watertightness, moisture intrusion, and mold in real estate assets. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional with a background in architecture or engineering to deepen their technical expertise in building envelope performance and forensic consulting while working closely with senior leadership on high-impact client engagements. Key Responsibilities • Assist in the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of facade, building envelope, watertightness, moisture, and mold-related issues for real estate clients. • Support site visits, field investigations, and visual/physical assessments of building envelope conditions (facades, cladding, windows, roofing interfaces, etc.). • Review architectural, structural, and MEP/HVAC drawings and specifications to identify design or construction deficiencies contributing to moisture or envelope failures. • Analyze building science data (e.g., moisture readings, thermal imaging, water testing results) and contribute to root-cause analysis. • Prepare technical reports, findings summaries, and repair/remediation recommendations under the guidance of the Senior Managing Director. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, structural engineers, HVAC engineers, and facade specialists. • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, clarify issues, and present findings as needed. • Stay current on building codes, industry standards, and best practices related to building envelope design and moisture management. • Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, working independently with limited day-to-day supervision while keeping leadership informed of progress and issues. • 2–4 years of relevant professional experience with a facade consultant/manufacturer, architectural firm, building envelope firm, or engineering firm (structural, HVAC, or facade engineering), or a similar organization. • Degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical/HVAC Engineering, or a related field. • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status preferred. • Genuine interest in building envelope performance, watertightness, moisture control, and mold-related issues in real estate. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, client-ready technical reports. • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with limited supervision, while knowing when to escalate issues. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Willingness to travel for site visits/field investigations as required. Preferred Qualifications • Background as an architect, or as a facade/structural/HVAC engineer. • Prior exposure to forensic/consulting engagements involving building envelope failures, water intrusion, or mold remediation. • Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, local building codes) related to facades and moisture control. What We Offer • Mentorship and direct collaboration with senior leadership on high-visibility client engagements. • Exposure to a broad range of real estate asset types and building envelope challenges. • Opportunities for professional growth and development toward licensure/certification. • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
