Slitting Operator

Job Summary: This position is a unionized role within our production team. As a Slitter Operator, you will be required to learn, understand, and put into practice all of our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently and in a team with another operator/Slitter. You must be able to work in an environment with distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. No travel is required for this position. • Expected hours of work is Monday – Sunday; 7:00 am – 7:00 pm& 7:00 pm – 7:00 am. Duties and Responsibilities: • Operate slitting/packaging cell to cut, package and label various rolled roofing products. • Provide support to maintenance team members to help troubleshoot machine issues and make improvements (optimization) within the department. • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results. • Perform daily walks around your work area to ensure guards and safety devices are in place. • Perform checks on safety equipment and record results as part of an ongoing safety program • Perform checks to validate the acceptability of product packaging and product counts • Perform other duties as assigned.   Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Attention to detail • Working knowledge of safety standards WHMIS • Ability to work rotating shifts • Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines. • Ability to uphold confidentiality • Ability to work overtime to meet customer requirements • Perform any other duties as assigned by Team Leader Education and Experience: • High School Diploma required or equivalent. • Two to Three Years of Manufacturing experience • Experience working with manufacturing machines is an asset Carlisle is committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act(‘AODA’).
