About the role
Become a part of our caring community
Humana’s Digital Health Platform (DHP) is the engineering platform behind many of Humana’s consumer digital experiences. DHP Product Engineering builds the shared pieces other Humana teams build on, including a micro-frontend catalog, accessibility tooling, and API foundations, and we build them with AI coding agents at the center of how we work. We are hiring a Senior Product Engineer who wants a say in what gets built as well as the craft of building it, from accessible interfaces to the services behind them.
You will own features across the whole stack, and you decide the technical approach for the work you own. You use AI coding tools like Claude Code every day, and you help build the shared skills and tooling behind that workflow. We measure your work by the results it produces for Humana’s members and patients and for the teams who build on our platform.
The Senior Product Engineer helps decide what we build, not just how we build it. This is a senior engineering role at its foundation. You design, develop, and deploy scalable web applications end to end, and you meet a high bar for engineering craft. You also own the product: you shape what we build, influence what goes on the roadmap, and are measured by the outcomes your work produces rather than the tickets you close. You explore before you commit, propose the work as often as you receive it, and sharpen requirements rather than simply implement them.
You will build accessible user interfaces, implement robust back-end microservices, and integrate the two with GraphQL, all while exercising considerable latitude over technical approach. Strong product instinct here does not lower the engineering bar; it raises the overall one.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5 or more years of software engineering experience, including 3 or more years of full-stack web development
• 2 or more years each with React, Node.js, and GraphQL, including building accessible user interfaces that meet WCAG 2.2
• Experience owning product or technical direction, such as shaping a roadmap or turning ambiguous problems into shipped outcomes
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in daily development, including reviewing and refining what they produce
Preferred Qualifications
• Test-driven development with Vitest, Jest, or Playwright
• Deploying microservices to Azure with Docker or Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• Micro-frontend architecture with Module Federation, including shared modules and cross-app dependencies
• Building React applications with TanStack Query, TanStack Router, TanStack Start, or Next.js
• Integrating AI into production features, or writing AI agent skills
Use your skills to make an impact
How we work: Our practice is skills-driven. A skill is a set of reusable instructions that an AI agent follows for a recurring task. You will write and improve those skills as part of your regular work. The practice is still emerging, and on this team you will help establish how it works.
What helps you succeed here:
• Working independently and making sound technical decisions with incomplete information
• Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, in writing and in person
• Giving and receiving constructive feedback in code reviews and design discussions
• Bringing structure to ambiguous problems and to processes that are still taking shape
Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an up
