About the role

Alternative Payments is building the financial operating system for SMBs, consolidating the disconnected tech stack that holds service-based businesses back. Starting with MSPs, we’ve spent five years perfecting accounts receivable, and we’re now expanding into accounts payable, AI-powered analytics, and beyond. We’re at an inflection point: closing the loop on money movement and laying the foundation for a platform that will reshape how service businesses operate financially. We’re growing fast, thinking big, and building a global team that wants to be part of something that lasts. We believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, deep collaboration, and a shared obsession with customer impact. If you’re energized by real problems, real customers, and real impact, we want to hear from you! WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help set the technical direction of Alti, our AI agent product. Alti launched in July 2026 and has moved past MVP. The next step is scaling it into a core product of our platform: more agents, more automated routines, and our own machine learning models alongside LLMs. You’re a product engineer who has built AI features in production and can raise the bar for the whole squad. You’ll own technical decisions across Alti, define how we evaluate and monitor AI features, and become a reference for AI across our product teams. This is a technical leadership role, not a people management role. This is a remote position based in Brazil. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Own the technical direction of Alti features, from conversational AI to agents and automated routines. - Define the standards for LLM evaluation, prompt management, monitoring and observability. - Lead the design of RAG pipelines and agent architectures, and make the trade-off calls. - Drive the move from LLM-only features to proprietary ML models, including taking them to production with monitoring and continuous feedback. - Identify new ML use cases across the AP platform (e.g., invoice payment prediction) and shape them with Product. - Act as a reference for AI inside the product org: review designs, pair with engineers and share practices. - Keep shipping hands-on: this role writes code every week. WHAT YOU’LL BRING - Strong experience as a software engineer, with a track record of owning technical decisions on product features end to end. - Hands-on work on AI products in the last 12 months (LLMs, agents, AI features), with ownership of meaningful parts of the system. - Experience with chatbots/conversational AI, RAG and LLM evaluation pipelines. - Strong skills in at least one of Go, TypeScript/JavaScript or Python. - Autonomy to define a process in a new area, not only execute one. - A product mindset: you care about what gets delivered to users, not only the model. - Comfort in a fast-paced environment where you own many parts of the delivery chain. - Professional working proficiency in English. NICE TO HAVES - Experience putting ML models into production with monitoring and feedback loops. - AI monitoring and observability tooling. - Prompt engineering experience. - Autonomous or personal agents working across channels (Slack, Teams, WhatsApp). - Background in fintech, payments or financial products. - Experience at both an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B) and a larger tech company. WHAT WE OFFER - Competitive salary tailored to your experience, skills, and expertise. - The total compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000, plus equity. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the approximate total target compensation for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including relevant skills, experie
