The Internship Programme at Graphcore
Explore a career at Graphcore through a 12-week summer internship, gaining hands-on experience on real projects. You’ll bring fresh ideas, put your learning into practice and help shape what we’re creating. Along the way, you’ll tackle challenging problems with a team who welcome your questions and support you as you build your skills and confidence.
What you’ll work on
Put your engineering foundations to work exploring how advanced AI hardware is tested, diagnosed and improved.
As a Test Engineering Intern in our Product Test and Diagnosis team, you’ll contribute to practical work across silicon, boards, server blades or rack-scale systems. Depending on your project, you may develop automated test solutions, run system-level tests and analyse the results.
Your work will help the team improve how Graphcore tests and understands its products. It’s a chance to see how manufacturing test connects design, validation and performance in use, while contributing to a defined project or set of activities.
Your team and support
You’ll join the Product Test and Diagnosis team in Bristol, within Manufacturing Operations. The wider team spans Bristol, Cambridge, India, the US and Taiwan, developing test strategies across the full product lifecycle.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on practical tasks close to the hardware. You can ask for help as you investigate results and develop tools, with support as you take ownership of your project or activities.
Decisions are shaped by test results, clear data and thoughtful problem solving. As an intern, you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, share your findings and try out ideas, with support from experienced engineers as you learn.
How you’ll learn and grow
Over the 12 weeks, you’ll build practical experience in semiconductor test and diagnosis through the work your project focuses on.
Running tests, analysing data and investigating issues will help you connect your studies with real hardware, develop your technical judgement and explain your findings. Working with engineers who improve test tools and processes will give you a clearer view of the areas you enjoy and might want to explore further.
Your internship is a chance to explore a future at Graphcore. Depending on your performance and the roles available, there may be an opportunity to join one of our graduate programmes once you’ve graduated.
What we’re looking for

• An understanding of electronics or printed circuit board (PCB) fundamentals, with an interest in semiconductor technology, manufacturing, test or validation
• Programming or scripting experience, ideally with Python
• The ability to use data to investigate problems and communicate your findings, demonstrated through practical work involving electronics, embedded systems, validation, or automation
Previous industry experience is not required. Tell us what you built or investigated through university projects, laboratory work, research, personal projects or other relevant experience, how you approached it and what you learned.
Familiarity with Linux, Bash or Git would be useful. These are additional strengths, rather than essential requirements.
