About the role
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join
The Cities team leads the work necessary to implement the regulatory products and processes needed globally to comply with regulations, and does so in a manner that also sustainably supports Airbnb's growth.
Within Cities, this role owns Airbnb's platform regulatory compliance program across EMEA — the growing set of EU and UK obligations that sit alongside, and increasingly beyond, short-term rental regulation.
The Difference You Will Make
As Senior Compliance Lead, EMEA, you are the accountable owner for a portfolio of platform regulations that is expanding in scope, scrutiny, and consequence — including the Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Act, and more.
You will translate each obligation into a durable operating process, a defensible reporting methodology, or a product change — and serve as a trusted advisor to Legal, Policy, and Product leadership on how Airbnb meets its regulatory commitments in the region.
A Typical Day:
• Own the EMEA compliance portfolio. Establish the operating processes and documentation that sustain obligations at scale, and report and monitor status and risk.
• Deliver regulatory reporting and submissions. Own the annual and ad hoc reporting calendar end to end. Deliver against regulatory deadlines, and iterate so each cycle is faster and more defensible than the last.
• Assess obligations and strengthen assurance. Identify new and changing obligations early, evaluate our readiness against them, and recommend the measures required to meet them.
• Translate regulatory requirements into scalable solutions. Define the product, engineering, and data requirements needed to meet obligations at scale, and partner with Product and Engineering to shape the roadmap, sequence delivery, and validate outcomes against compliance standards.
Your Expertise:
• 12+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, compliance program management, or regulatory operations — preferably in a technology platform or another highly regulated industry.
• Proven track record owning a multi-jurisdiction, cross-functional compliance program end to end, with direct experience across the Digital Services Act, and the UK Online Safety Act.
• Hands-on experience with a recurring regulator-facing reporting cycle and the relationship management that comes with it.
• Track record partnering with Product and Engineering to deliver regulatory requirements into live products.
• Data fluency to define, own, and defend a reporting methodology to auditors and regulators.
• Familiarity with regulatory technology and automation tools.
• Ability to operate with a strategic lens—connecting regulatory requirements to long-term business objectives and functional roadmaps.
• Excellent communicator and negotiator; able to transform ambiguity into clarity, and move from complexity to consensus.
• Strong analytical skills and an ability to design operational structures that balance compliance, risk, and scalability.
• Proven leadership growing and coaching high-performing, diverse teams; comfortable leading through influence as well as structure.
Our Commitment To Inclusion & Belonging:
Airbnb is committed to working with the broadest talent pool possible. We believe diverse ideas foster innovation and engagement, and allow us to attract creatively-led people, and to develop the best products, services and solutions. All qualified individual
