About the role

1 Wissenschaftliche:r Mitarbeiter:in mit PhD - Postdoc (m/w/d) We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Miller Lab at the MedicalUniversity of Vienna, Austria, and investigate how metabolic processes regulate tissue regeneration. The project will compare regenerative responses in different tissues, with a particular focus on hownuclear metabolic and epigenetic interactions support changes in cellular state, proliferation, andtissue repair. The project builds on our work of liver regeneration and will extend to tissues that use differentregenerative strategies, such as muscle, kidney, and pancreas. The choice of additional regenerativemodels remains open and can be shaped by the candidate's scientific interests and expertise. Thepostdoctoral researcher will establish and apply these complementary murine regeneration models incombination with selected stem cell models to identify tissue-specific mechanisms of regeneration. Inaddition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop an independent researchdirection within the project. The metabolic aspects, including state-of-the-art metabolomics and in vivostable isotope tracing using our Orbitrap mass spectrometer, as well as multiple liver regenerationmodels, are already established. Other organ regeneration models will need to be developed andoptimized. The position therefore offers a unique opportunity for a researcher with strong expertise inregenerative and/or stem cell biology who is interested in gaining expertise in metabolic research atthe intersection with epigenetics.Ihre Aufgabenº Forschung und Mitwirkung an Projekten der Organisationseinheitº Selbständige Lehre, Prüfungen und Betreuung von Studierendenº Mitwirkung an Evaluationen und universitären VerwaltungsaufgabenIhr Profilº Abgeschlossenes Studium in regenerative biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biomedicine, or a related field, with a strong publication recordappropriate to their career stage mit facheinschlägigem Doktoratº Qualifikation in Forschung und LehreEssential experienceº Research experience in tissue regeneration, regenerative biology, regenerative medicine, orstem cell biology, particularly involving tissue-resident stem/progenitor cellsº Substantial experience working with mouse modelsº Strong expertise in molecular and cellular biologyº Ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot protocols, analyse data, anddevelop new experimental approachesDesirable experienceº Surgical or microsurgical experience in mouse modelsº Experience with kidney, skeletal muscle, pancreatic, or other tissue regeneration modelsº -Omics experience, including data analysis for metabolomics, proteomics, and epigenomicapproachesWe are particularly interested in candidates who are scientifically curious, technically versatile, andenthusiastic about working across different biological disciplines. Experience in every technique listedabove is not expected; however, prior expertise in regenerative biology and substantial experience withmouse models is essential.
