About the role

Hi, I'm Serhii, I'm the Accounting Team Lead at WeTravel, and I'm hiring the Senior Accountant to take over the work I've done for the past three years. I joined as a Junior Accountant, took on this scope early, and grew into leading the accounting team. That path is real here: if you own your work and keep improving how it gets done, scope follows. You'll report to me, and I'll be your day-to-day partner, reviewer and someone to think problems through with. How we work We're a small team, so your work is visible and your ideas get used. We value autonomy: you get clear ownership, not a checklist and someone looking over your shoulder. We care about the "how" as much as the "what." We write standard operating procedures (SOPs), build reusable workpapers, script repetitive NetSuite tasks and use AI tools daily to move faster. If you've ever rebuilt a reconciliation so the next month took half the time, you'll fit in. We're remote-first. Our finance team works mostly from home, split between Amsterdam and the US, so you'll collaborate across time zones. You and I will meet at our Amsterdam office for in-person days, such as working sessions, close kick-offs and planning. How often depends on what the work needs, and we keep it flexible. The office is open every day if you'd rather work from there. You'll need to live in the Netherlands, within reach of Amsterdam. Our values: • Be Respectful: we build an inclusive team that values different perspectives. • Be Honest: we default to transparency, including when something in the numbers is wrong. • Be Resourceful: we find a way forward even when the path isn't mapped out. • Be the Solution: spotting a problem is the start; fixing it is the job. What you'll own You'll own these areas end to end, from monthly entries through audit support. • Month-end close: you'll be the main preparer of the monthly close, owning accruals, prepaids and balance sheet reconciliations, and reviewing the income statement for accuracy, correct periods and department mapping before it goes to final review. • Cash: bank, card and payment-platform accounts across multiple currencies and entities, including Stripe, Airwallex, ING and Corpay. • Intercompany: intercompany entries and loan agreements with interest between entities. • Leases and fixed assets: lease accounting (right-of-use assets and liabilities), leasehold improvements, fixed assets, intangibles and depreciation. • Compensation: bonus and commission accruals, payroll journal entries and liabilities, pension and 401(k). • Expenses and AP: the full expense cycle, from vendor bills and card spend to prepaid amortization, AP tie-outs and department mapping. • VAT: preparing BV VAT returns for review. • Audits: owning your areas in the annual financial audit and tax reviews. • Process: documenting and improving what you own, from standard operating procedures (SOPs) to automation. • Reporting: presenting your areas to the finance team in a weekly review. We care most about how you work, then what you know. Audit firm or in-house, scale-up or corporate: your background matters less than what you've owned. Why You Should or Shouldn't Apply You should apply if you have: • A track record of owning close areas end to end without needing someone to drive them. • 3+ years in accounting, with hands-on month-end close experience. • Multi-entity and multi-currency experience, including intercompany. • Solid grounding in accrual accounting; US GAAP experience, or the willingness to get there quickly alongside Dutch GAAP. • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and experience with a mid-market ERP (NetSuite ideal). • Fluent English, written and spoken. • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience. Nice-to-haves • NetSuite and Ramp exp
