Frontend Developer Intern

ParetoLabs is looking for a motivated and passionate Frontend Developer Intern with a love for building great user interfaces to join our growing team. As part of our dynamic team, you will build the interfaces people use to work with our AI-driven applications. You will gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and shipping web applications for clients across a wide range of industries. About ParetoLabs ParetoLabs is a Zurich-based software studio that develops customized, AI-powered applications for conversational and text-processing use cases. We help companies quickly test, implement, and scale AI applications within their specific business environments. Founded in 2023, ParetoLabs is a Microsoft for Startups partner that combines innovative AI technologies with the individual requirements of Swiss companies. Tasks • Build modern, responsive user interfaces for AI applications, including chat assistants, copilots and internal tools. • Turn designs into accessible, well-structured components in React and TypeScript (Next.js). • Connect the frontend to our APIs and handle loading, errors and streaming AI responses gracefully. • Collaborate closely with our multicultural team, sharing your ideas and learning from experienced colleagues. • Take ownership of defined tasks and bring your own ideas to projects with real-world impact. Requirements • Educational Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent self-taught experience. • Web Fundamentals: Practical experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript through university, personal, or professional projects. • Frontend Frameworks: First experience with React or a similar framework is an advantage; Next.js is a plus. • How the Web Works: A good understanding of how browsers, HTTP and APIs work together, and of the difference between what runs on the server and in the browser. • User Focus: Care for usability, accessibility and responsive design across devices. • Developer Tools: Initial experience with Git and the browser's developer tools. • Problem-Solving Skills: A curious, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership of defined tasks. • Teamwork: An open-minded team player who enjoys collaborating in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment. • Communication Skills: Good communication skills in English or German and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and project stakeholders.
