About the role
Working Student Quality Control (and R&D Support) / Werkstudent Kwaliteitscontrole (en R&D-ondersteuning)
Utrecht | €15 per hour | 1 day per week
Are you looking for a part-time student job in Utrecht where you can put your technical knowledge into practice? At Alpine, quality is key. Our earplugs need to protect your hearing effectively, while also being comfortable to wear and looking great. As a Working Student in Quality Control, you will help ensure that our products meet these standards. You will carry out audits on our product batches by taking samples, testing them thoroughly and assessing whether they meet our requirements, both in terms of performance and appearance. In addition, you will support our R&D team in testing new products.
What will you do?
You will spend most of your time on quality control, inspecting samples of products from the market for the following:
• Visual inspection: You will check products for damage, contamination, colour inconsistencies, finish and correct packaging.
• Acoustic testing: Using our test equipment, you will measure whether filters and earplugs achieve the noise attenuation levels specified in our product specifications.
• Mechanism testing: You will test moving parts, such as switches and interchangeable filters, to assess their functionality, clicking force and durability.
• Recording and reporting: You will document test results, identify deviations and contribute ideas on their possible causes and potential improvements.
In addition, you will support our R&D team by:
• Testing new products: You will test prototypes and initial production batches of new earplugs and filters, sharing your findings with the team.
• Improving test methods: You will help develop and improve testing procedures and carry out comparative tests.
You will work closely with R&D and our project managers to get the very best out of our products. The role is based at our office in Utrecht. After a thorough onboarding period, you will be able to carry out your tasks independently.
Who are you?
• You are currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in a technical field such as mechanical engineering or industrial design engineering.
• You are detail-oriented and quick to spot even the smallest deviations.
• You work in a structured way and maintain your focus, even when performing repetitive tests.
• You are curious and enjoy understanding how products work and how they can be improved.
• You are available to work one fixed day per week (8 hours) at our office in Utrecht for at least six months.
• You have a good command of English, both spoken and written. Speaking Dutch is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with measuring equipment or acoustics is a plus, but not required. We will teach you everything you need to know.
What do we offer?
• An hourly wage of €15.
• A fixed working day that fits well around your studies.
• An inside look at product development at an international brand.
• Free festival tickets.
• Two team outings per year and a two-day adventure event.
• A shared lunch twice a week.
• Sports activities with colleagues.
• Monthly drinks with the team.
