About the role

Job Description This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week, or as otherwise determined by the hiring leader. • This role is not eligible for relocation assistance. At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.   Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.. About the role The Staff Integration Lead Engineer owns architecture-wide technical integration and execution across the Vehicle Closures program portfolio. This Level 8 individual-contributor role aligns engineering, design, manufacturing, dimensional, validation, quality, purchasing, supply chain, supplier, vehicle development, and launch teams to deliver coordinated, high-performing closure systems through technical influence rather than supervisory authority. The role translates vehicle objectives, requirements, and engineering data into clear deliverables and timely decisions. As a key technical link between Vehicle Closures leadership and program teams, the engineer manages dependencies, anticipates risks, and drives issue resolution from concept through launch and post-launch learning, meeting timing, cost, quality, performance, and customer expectations. What you'll do • Own technical integration across assigned closure systems, architectures, and vehicle families; establish priorities, ownership, review cadence, and escalation paths. • Maintain an integrated execution plan covering requirements, design maturity, release, tooling, builds, validation, manufacturing readiness, launch, and post-launch actions. • Integrate requirements for function, fit and finish, noise and vibration, sealing, water management, durability, safety, ergonomics, appearance, regulatory compliance, manufacturability, service, and customer experience. • Lead cross-functional technical workgroups and integration reviews; evaluate and approve technical content, plans, trade studies, changes, and decision records within the assigned scope. • Identify dependencies, critical-path activities, risks, and requirement gaps. Assign mitigation owners, use data and structured problem-solving, and escalate before commitments are affected. • Challenge requirements or technical direction when evidence indicates risk to safety, quality, customer outcomes, cost, timing, or performance. • Guide DREs and engineers while maintaining clear ownership of execution and release deliverables. • Lead physical and virtual integration from advanced development and prototype builds through production readiness and launch. • Serve as the first technical contact for closure-related launch issues, coordinating containment, root-cause analysis, recovery, and escalation. • Partner with manufacturing, plants, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure feasible designs, capable processes, dimensional performance, and executable reaction plans. • Develop and govern technical standards, integration methods, decision logs, and lessons learned for reuse across programs. • Communicate status, risks, opportunities, decisions, and recovery plans through concise, fact-based program reviews. • Support resource and capacity planning by identifying technical workload needs and priority trade-offs. • Apply digital tools, analytics, simulation, visuali
