Our Generative AI models and platforms empower teams across Capital One to enhance their products by composing powerful, safe and explainable AI capabilities such as agentic workflows, and shared services such as guardrails, observability and evals coupled with foundational model power of open-weight and proprietary frontier models. The team is also delivering capabilities on top of the platform to optimize the software development life-cycle to dramatically enhance developer productivity and model-development life cycle to improve time-to-market of machine learning models. About the role : As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at Capital One, you will lead high-performing engineering teams working to define the future of banking in the cloud. You will partner closely with product managers, designers, architects and executive leaders to deliver scalable, customer-centric solutions. What You’ll Do: • Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers • Shape long-term technical strategy and architecture standards for enterprise platforms • Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to align product roadmaps with scalable technology capabilities • Drive talent strategy, ensuring succession planning, skill development and equitable opportunity across engineering teams • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team. • Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios and develop market-driven application capabilities and customer experiences • Continuously improve software engineering practices • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity • Work across the organization to improve the velocity of your and other teams • Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a rela
