About the role

Change.org is looking for a (Senior) Communications Manager to lead our team in Germany, as Head of Change.org , Germany. Your job is to make the country notice. You will create big, viral campaigns, online and offline, that put the everyday people who start petitions on Change.org at the centre of the national conversation. The job also involves being the public voice of Change.org in the German media. You will lead a small, high-performing team, open doors through an exceptional network, and use AI to move faster than anyone else in the news cycle. We'd welcome ambitious Communications Manager level candidates with leadership presence, who are ready to step up into a team leadership role. Change.org is the world's largest petition platform, used by more than 100 million people every year to take part in civic life and democracy. At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy is at an all-time high, we are investing heavily in AI to build the most powerful tools in the world to give people a voice, while bringing people across the political spectrum together around shared solutions. What you will achieve • Create awareness spikes. Regularly turn petitions from Change.org petition starters into national moments that people talk about, through viral campaigns that combine top-tier media, social media, video, creators and offline actions such as stunts, petition handovers and public events. • Put petition starters in the spotlight. Find the strongest stories and the most credible, unexpected voices, and give them the visibility they need to win. • Earn trust across the political spectrum. Make sure Change.org campaigns speak to people across the democratic political spectrum, and protect the trust in our brand as the team moves fast with AI. At a Senior Manager level, build balance checks into how the team works. • Mobilise your network. Use and grow high-trust relationships with senior editors, producers, journalists, politicians, decision makers, civil society and creators to secure top-tier coverage and move decision makers. • Be our voice. Act as Change.org 's external spokesperson in Germany on TV, radio, in print and on stage, representing a trusted, open platform for people across the democratic political spectrum, including in sensitive and crisis situations. • Lead a high-performing team. Set clear goals, coach and develop people, give direct feedback, and build a culture of speed, ambition and ownership. At a Senior Manager level, set team objectives, coach and develop each person on the team. • Lead with AI. Build AI and agentic workflows into how the team spots stories, plans campaigns, pitches media and reports results, so the team works faster and smarter. What you bring • A track record of viral campaigns. You have created campaigns that broke through nationally and drove measurable spikes in public attention, online and offline. You think in moments, images and headlines, and you move from idea to execution in hours, not weeks. • Fast paced. You are skilled in fast and excellent execution with rapid pivots and changing contexts. • A strong network. You have trusted relationships with German journalists, editors and producers (ideally including key decision makers), and connections in politics and civil society across the whole democratic political spectrum, including conservative circles. You can use your contacts to place stories. • Management. You have led and developed a team, or have mentored others and are ready to step into leading one. You set priorities, give direct feedback and bring out the best in people. At a Senior Manager level, you would move resources as the news and priorities shift. • Leadership presence. You are confident, credible and calm under pressure. You are an experienced, med
