About the role

Flow Traders runs on data. Trading, research, finance, and operations all depend on reliable numbers and a clear understanding of what those numbers mean. Today, business teams bring questions and project ideas to our BI and FP&A specialists, but there is a gap between business intent and the specific, measurable requirements needed to deliver effective solutions. This can result in projects starting without a clear definition of ROI and KPIs lacking clear business ownership. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will bridge this gap by translating business needs into actionable requirements, challenging business cases before they become projects, and establishing clear KPI definitions and ownership. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project management, BI, and FP&A to ensure initiatives are properly defined, prioritized, and measured against their expected returns. This is an advisory role where you will act as an internal consultant, expected to form independent views, challenge weak reasoning, and drive decisions with senior stakeholders. Rather than building pipelines or dashboards yourself, you will focus on the frameworks, requirements, and processes that enable analytics and data engineers to deliver effective solutions. Your work will help establish accountability for business metrics, improve project prioritization, and ensure technical teams can focus on delivery rather than requirements discovery. What you will do • Translate business intent into requirements. Work with business teams to understand the decisions behind their requests and translate ambiguous questions into clear, testable requirements that analytics and data engineers can build from independently. • Prioritize business requests. Evaluate incoming requests based on their expected value and required effort, challenging or rejecting initiatives that lack sufficient justification. • Define and track project ROI. Collaborate with project management to establish expected returns and measurement frameworks before projects begin. Challenge business cases with unclear, unattributable, or overlapping benefits and track realized versus projected outcomes after delivery. • Establish KPI definitions and ownership. Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders to define metrics, their underlying data, and the decisions they support. Secure formal sign-off from named business owners and conduct recurring reviews to keep definitions relevant. • Drive alignment across departments. Resolve conflicting metric definitions between business teams, establish consistency, and escalate disagreements where alignment cannot be reached. • Bridge business, BI, and FP&A. Act as the central point of translation between departmental business questions and reporting requirements, ensuring stakeholders understand the origins and meaning of their data. • Improve reporting effectiveness. Identify and consolidate reporting that no longer supports business decisions, reducing unnecessary complexity and improving efficiency. What you need to succeed Required • Substantial experience as a business analyst in a data- or reporting-heavy environment, with a proven track record of owning business requirements. • Strong ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear, actionable technical specifications. • Experience developing business cases, defining expected ROI, establishing measurement frameworks, and evaluating realized benefits. • Proven ability to define KPIs with business stakeholders, establish clear ownership, and ensure accountability for agreed metrics. • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, defend recommendations, and escalate issues when necessary. • Ability to operate inde
