Senior Engineer for Layer 2/Switching protocols development This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office. Job Description: What you’ll do: • Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. • Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines. • Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements. • Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem. • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution. Education and Experience Required: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. • Typically 2-4 years of experience. What you need to bring: • 4+ years of experience as a Software Developer in Layer2/Layer3 networking or related systems area • In-depth knowledge of data networking, e.g., TCP/IP, Ethernet and similar technologies • Experience in one or more of EVPN, VXLAN, MACSec 802.1AE, MKA, 802.1X, L2 switching, VLANs • Proficiency in switching and routing technologies, including Layer-2 protocols, e.g., STP, LACP, MVRP, LLDP, BGP. • Experience on Virtualization. • Strong in C/C++ programming, data structures, algorithms, OS concepts • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills • Proficiency in software development with Linux/FreeBSD or similar UNIX systems • BS/MS in Computer Science or similar discipline Accessibility HPE is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities.
