About the role
About the Role
You will develop software for system and regression testing of our robots, including test scripts, test tools, and automation solutions. Your core output will be high-quality, reusable test software that helps the team improve the efficiency, coverage, and repeatability of robot system testing.
This is a development engineer role. You will collaborate with the robotics test and system test engineers in the team to develop scripts, tools, and automation solutions for key software and hardware test scenarios across our robot systems.
In addition to software development, you will have the opportunity to participate directly in validation and debugging work on physical robots and in simulation environments. You will run and refine the tools and automated test solutions you develop on real systems, gaining first-hand insight into how robots behave and the challenges they face in real-world environments.
Your Responsibilities
• Develop system, integration, and regression test scripts in Python or C++ for various robotic platforms
• Develop ROS 2-based test tools, such as nodes for stimulating and monitoring the system, tools for data recording and replay, log and rosbag analysis, and test result reporting
• Debug, validate, run, and maintain automated test solutions in simulation environments and on physical robots
• Develop scripts and tools for long-duration stability, performance, and fault-injection testing
• Work with system test engineers in the team to turn manual test scenarios suitable for automation into stable, reusable test scripts
• Integrate test scripts into CI/CD pipelines so that they run automatically with each build
• Maintain test code quality through code reviews, documentation, and version control
• Use the tools you develop to support issue reproduction, diagnosis, and analysis
What You Bring
• Hands-on ROS 2 development experience gained through work, internships, a thesis, or student projects; able to write nodes using rclpy or rclcpp, with familiarity in topics, services, actions, parameters, launch files, and rosbag
• A robotics background, with practical experience in robot development or testing through work, internships, a working student role, a thesis, or student projects
• Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or C++
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; recent graduates are welcome
• Familiarity with Linux and Git
• A long-term interest in robot testing and quality engineering, as well as an interest in debugging and validating your own code on real robots
• Good written and spoken English skills
Nice to Have
• Experience with robot arms, legged robots, or other mobile robot platforms
• Experience developing automated tests for real hardware
• Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
• Experience with Docker and test environment management
• Experience with HIL or SIL test setups
