About the role

About Us QuantWare is building the world’s most powerful quantum processors to solve humanity's greatest challenges. We do this with our unique VIO™ technology, the only QPU architecture that breaks the hardware barriers that have held quantum computing back, unlocking the path to MegaQubit quantum processors. With VIO, we are paving the way for the hyper-scale quantum computers that will change the world. And delivering on that vision demands people who don’t shy away from tackling the hardest challenges of our time. That’s where you come in! Join us as a Technical Program Manager in our new Project Management Office (PMO), reporting to the PMO Lead. You will own day-to-day program management for one to two development programs, keeping schedules, responsibilities and risks visible across development and production departments. What you'll be doing • Ownership and responsibility • Own top level execution and delivery of assigned programs. • Partner with project and discipline leads on cross-department programs to ensure execution on schedule and within budget. • Manage the day-to-day execution of the assigned programs including handoffs across departments. • Lead the program-management activities for your assigned programs: schedule build, baselining, gate reviews, etc. • Manage uncertainty and risk • Identify risks and bottlenecks early • Plan for potential failure modes and contingencies • Escalate risks and blockers to the relevant stakeholders promptly. • Support growth and development of the team • Mentor junior program managers in program execution and collaborative leadership. • Support the PMO Lead in rolling out common language, product lifecycle, team rhythms for programs. • Support general program management training across the organization. Your Profile • Leadership experience • Over 6 years of experience, including more than 4 years managing the delivery of complex, research-intensive chip hardware projects in a program management role. • Lead programs coordinating across functions and departments. • Proven ability to work with highly specialised technical experts. • Experience working in a fast-moving start-up or scale-up environment balancing hands-on technical leadership with growing a team, as a strong plus. • Approach • Learn quickly in a highly technical, low-maturity field, without needing a deep technical background in quantum computing on day one. • Translate a long-term strategy into an execution plan for your program teams. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make pragmatic, informed decisions under uncertainty. • Bring together world-class technical experts and project leads to execute on highly complex programs. • Technical Background • MSc, PhD, or equivalent experience in physics, electrical engineering, microwave/RF engineering, semiconductor technology, or a related field. • Understanding of the development lifecycle for chip-level technologies; experience with superconducting qubits or cryogenic systems is a strong plus. • Communication • Excellent communicator who can motivate teams, facilitate alignment, adept at communicating program management ideas to highly technical people. • Collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues across the organization - Product, Research and Development, Operations, Management team, etc. • Communicate fluently in English.
