About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and own the internal products that Kasten engineering teams use every day to develop, test, and release Veeam Kasten. You will design and write production-quality software for our engineering platform. This includes test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, tools that provision clusters, and tools for performance testing. We also develop and support quality products for internal company needs, such as our merge queue service and CI dashboard.
We apply the best product development practices to all our internal products, and we treat them as production-grade software. Each product has real users, a roadmap, code review, automated tests, CI/CD, documentation, and support.
We want a strong software engineer with solid testing fundamentals. You will work with engineers in EMEA and, when needed, the US.
What you’ll do
• Design, build, and maintain internal products, platforms, and frameworks that teams use to develop and test Veeam Kasten.
• Develop and support quality products for internal company needs, such as our merge queue service and CI dashboard.
• Own the shared test frameworks and libraries that product teams use for integration and end-to-end tests. Make them better structured, more reliable, and faster.
• Build and run tools for performance and scale testing. Analyze the results and find regressions.
• Develop large-scale CI/CD pipelines and the infrastructure behind them: Kubernetes, public cloud, on-premises, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Build tools that automate daily engineering work, including AI-assisted tools.
• Support internal users. Triage failures across product, test, and infrastructure layers, and drive each fix to its root cause.
• Review code, write design documents, and mentor other engineers.
Technologies you’ll work with
Go, Bash, Python, TypeScript, Vue, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Git, Terraform, OpenShift, Rancher, Google GKE, AWS EKS, Azure AKS, VMware TKG.
What you’ll bring
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• A strong software engineering background. You design, write, test, and ship maintainable code in at least one high-level language, such as Go, Python, Java, or C#.
• Experience building and supporting internal products, in-house platforms, developer tools, or frameworks that other engineers use.
• Solid testing fundamentals:
• test design and test structure
• test levels (unit, integration, end-to-end)
• what to automate, how, and when
• how to keep tests reliable and maintainable
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and Helm.
• Experience with CI/CD systems at scale.
• Comfort with Linux and shell scripting.
• Strong ownership and the ability to work independently.
• Clear written and spoken English.
Bonus skills
• Test automation experience, including building or extending automation frameworks (for example, Playwright).
• Experience with performance, load, or scale testing: designing workloads, collecting metrics, and analyzing results.
• Experience developing in Go.
