About the role

Job Description Work Arrangement - The successful candidate is expected to report to GM Technical Center Korea, located in Bupyeong and Cheongna Proving Ground, Incheon, on a full-time basis. The Role - Join GM's Software and Electronics organization and work with vehicle cybersecurity engineers to build a practical, repeatable way to plan vehicle security tests. Over this internship program, you will review how a connected vehicle communicates, help draft reusable test plans and checklists, and try selected checks in a supervised lab pilot on one approved target. The goal is to create an approach that can be considered for reuse on other programs—not to test every vehicle or set company-wide policy. You will document what you learn, suggest ways to improve security, and present your work to the team. You will also gain experience with vehicle cybersecurity, from understanding risks to helping teams validate fixes. What You'll Do- Understand the vehicle and plan the work: • Review how a connected vehicle communicates through areas such as telematics, infotainment, gateways, vehicle diagnostics, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular connections, mobile apps, and back-office services. Note which connections and features differ across vehicle programs. • Help draft a risk-based plan for choosing what to assess first. Document factors the team can use when considering in-house testing or an outside specialist; the responsible team will make the final decision. Create reusable test materials: • Help connect proposed test checks to a security framework chosen by the team, so reviewers can see what the plan covers. • Draft test plans, checklists, and sample checks for vehicle networks and diagnostics (CAN, LIN, UDS, Automotive Ethernet); Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular; debug access and secure boot; and firmware, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and remote vehicle commands. Any hands-on firmware access or extraction must be specifically approved and included in the test scope. Prepare and run a supervised pilot: • Set up and document the lab bench and approved tools, such as hardware tools and protocol analyzers, with guidance from the team. • Try selected checks on one approved target in a controlled lab (a vehicle or bench) under team supervision. Record what worked, what needs adjustment, and what could be reused on future programs. • Report findings and share recommendations: • Draft a findings-report template that explains the issue, its potential impact, and possible fixes. Propose severity categories for review; the responsible engineers will confirm final ratings and remediation actions. • Work with cybersecurity compliance partners to identify relevant standards and regulations. The responsible teams will determine how those requirements apply. • Document the proposed approach, pilot lessons, and recommendations; present the results and handoff materials to the team. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) - • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited four-year university, or expected to earn one by February 2027. • GPA: A cumulative GPA of B or higher, or at least 3.0 on a 4.5 scale. • Major: A STEM-related field, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field • English proficiency: TOEIC score of 750 or higher. -Equivalent scores accepted: OPIc IM2 or higher, or TOEIC Speaking score of 130 or higher. -TOEIC score submission is waived for graduates of, or candidates expected to graduate from, universities outside Korea. • Availability: Able to participate in the internship on a full-time basis throughout the internship period. • In accordance with applicable laws, preference may be given to persons of national merit and other indi
