Canada: Express Entry no longer awards ranking points for job offers (since 25 Mar 2025); a job offer still counts toward Federal Skilled Worker eligibility.

About the role
Starburst is seeking a hands-on Director of Corporate Accounting to lead our global accounting operations as we continue to scale. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will own the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and drive improvements across accounting processes, systems, and operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with operational leadership, sound judgment, and a passion for improving processes. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of a growing global accounting organization and help shape how Finance operates as Starburst scales.
Key Responsibilities
• Corporate Accounting: Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, general ledger, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting.
• Financial Operations: Oversee accounts payable, payroll accounting, cash management, and related processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Technical Accounting and Compliance: Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable statutory requirements, including complex accounting matters such as revenue recognition and stock-based compensation.
• Internal Controls and Audit: Strengthen internal controls, maintain accounting policies and documentation, and lead external audit coordination.
• Systems and Process Improvement: Optimize accounting systems, automate workflows, and improve close efficiency, data integrity, and scalability.
• Leadership and Partnership: Develop a high-performing global accounting team and partner with the CFO, FP&A, and cross-functional leaders to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
• Scalability and Readiness: Build processes, systems, and controls that support international growth, increasing business complexity, and future public-company readiness.
Some of the things we look for:
• Significant progressive accounting experience, ideally in a high-growth technology or B2B SaaS company.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
• Proven experience leading global accounting operations and developing high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated success improving accounting systems, automating workflows, and scaling financial processes.
• Experience managing external audits, complex technical accounting matters, and control environments; public-company readiness experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; CPA designation preferred.
• Ability to Travel : This role will require 25% in-person travel for purposes including but not limited to new hire onboarding, team and department offsites, customer engagements, and other company events. Actual travel expectations may vary by role and business needs.
