About the role
Here at The Exploration Company, we are building spacecrafts for humanity.
We are developing, producing and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable orbital vehicle designed to carry cargo and, in the longer term, potentially crew.
To support the ramp-up of our production activities in Munich, we are looking for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician - Level 2 with strong practical experience in radiographic testing (RT/X-ray) and penetrant testing (PT). Ultrasonic testing (UT) experience is an advantage.
You will perform and document inspections on critical space components and assemblies. In your day-to-day work, you will collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams, as well as external providers and the appointed Responsible Level 3. Your rigor will directly contribute to the conformity, traceability and reliability of flight hardware.
Your mission
You will prepare and perform NDT inspections in accordance with approved procedures and acceptance criteria, assess results within the scope of your qualification, and alert the relevant stakeholders when you identify a discrepancy or technical concern.
What you will do
• Perform radiographic testing (RT/X-ray) and penetrant testing (PT) on production parts, welds, structures and other hardware in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Prepare parts, verify inspection conditions, and use the required equipment and consumables.
• Interpret and evaluate indications within the scope of your qualification and against approved acceptance criteria; seek guidance or escalate complex or ambiguous cases.
• Produce complete inspection reports and maintain traceability of results, equipment, parameters and applicable documents.
• Check the condition and validity of inspection equipment, and report any need for maintenance, verification or replacement.
• Coordinate with Production to schedule inspections at the right stage and help resolve inspection-related production blockers.
• Raise non-conformities and contribute to root-cause investigations, corrective actions and their follow-up.
• Contribute to updating work instructions, procedures, inspection plans and report templates, under the coordination of authorized personnel.
• When needed, coordinate inspections performed by external providers and check that their deliverables and supporting documentation are complete.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of NDT practices and the development of internal capabilities, including UT where your experience allows.
• Follow the site’s safety, quality and document-control requirements.
What you bring
• Level 2 qualification in radiographic testing (RT/X-ray) and penetrant testing (PT) under EN 4179, NAS 410, ISO 9712; current qualifications are strongly preferred.
• Professional experience in the space industry is required, ideally involving flight hardware or critical equipment.
• Practical experience inspecting welds, metallic structures, pressure vessels, propulsion systems, machined parts or composite components.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications, procedures and acceptance criteria, and produce accurate, clear inspection reports.
• Good understanding of inspection traceability, equipment control and the handling of non-conforming results.
• Ability to work within the scope of your qualification and consult the Level 3 or technical focal points whenever a decision falls outside that scope.
• Professional working proficiency in English, both spoken and written, to operate in an international environment.
Especially valuable
• UT qualification or practical experience, particularly inspecting critical parts or structures.
• Experience with digital radiography, phased-array UT, automated inspection or composite inspection.
• Experience working
