About the role

We are looking for a Health & Safety Engineer to support safe operations across our facilities, construction activities, manufacturing, testing, and launch operations. This is a technical role focused on identifying hazards, developing effective controls, and helping teams work safely in a fast-moving engineering environment. You will work closely with operations, engineering, construction, manufacturing, test, and external contractors to ensure that safety is built into the way we work. Fluent German and experience working with German authorities would be a substantial advantage About us We’re a Germany-based rocketry startup currently in stealth mode, scaling up rapidly to meet the demand for high-performance, reliable, and scalable solid propulsion technologies for space and defense applications. We are already launching suborbital and ballistic rockets on a regular basis, have just crossed €10m in revenue for our first operating year and are applying our knowledge toward the development of an orbital rocket. We are working hard to build something truly spectacular. To thrive here you will need to be comfortable working at pace, with the autonomy to make decisions and execute on them quickly. If you’re excited by hard technical challenges and want a role where you will make a real difference each day to the future of the company, we may be the place for you. At our company, job titles and career progression are earned, not determined by years of experience alone. They reflect the responsibility you take on and the dedication you bring to each project. If you’re ready to rise to the challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Key responsibilities • Conduct risk assessments, hazard reviews, workplace inspections, and safety assessments across company operations. • Develop practical safety procedures, engineering controls, permits, emergency plans, and supporting documentation. • Support safe working practices across construction, manufacturing, testing, hazardous-materials handling, and launch activities. • Work with engineers, operations teams, contractors, and subject-matter experts to identify and control operational risks. • Liaise with German authorities, regulators, inspectors, and external safety bodies on approvals, inspections, and compliance matters. • Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-conformances, driving corrective actions and improvements. What we are looking for • Proven experience in health and safety engineering, HSE, operational safety, or a similar role in a technical or industrial environment. • A degree or equivalent professional experience in safety engineering, engineering, occupational safety, environmental health and safety, or a related discipline. • Strong understanding of workplace risk assessment, hazard controls, incident investigation, and safety documentation. • Experience working with contractors, technical teams, construction activities, manufacturing, testing, or other high-risk operations. • Fluent German and proven experience working directly with German authorities and regulatory bodies. • A practical, structured, and confident approach, with the ability to challenge unsafe decisions and influence teams at all levels. Desirable experience • Aerospace, space, defence, rocketry, propulsion, chemical processing, construction, or high-energy testing. • Hazardous chemicals, explosives, energetic materials, pressure systems, or high-consequence test operations. • German permitting, inspection, environmental, occupational-safety, construction, or hazardous-materials processes. • Emergency response, contractor safety, operational-readiness reviews, audits, or safety training. • Formal health and safety, process-safety, environmental, or occupational-safety
