DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Data is a key asset to Allica and is deeply embedded in all our teams, services and products. With data, we assist and work with Finance, Operations, Credit Risk, Product and Senior Management. ROLE DESCRIPTION We are looking for ambitious and curious people who can help us understand our data better, contribute to facilitating the discussions between engineering and the data stakeholders and have an impact on the business by telling stories around the insights they generate. You will be an integral part of the newly formed business intelligence team, paying a hands-on role, building and developing the analytics and insights capabilities of the Bank. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - Build and optimise solutions on GCP (BigQuery) and in Python, automating manual processes and choosing the best way to implement each solution. - Get to the root of problem statements by asking the right questions, then decide whether the need of the hour is a quick fix or a properly designed solution. - Generate your own work by joining wider business meetings, building business understanding and spotting where data can add value. - Understand the business needs first, then build dashboards on BI tools (preferably Looker) and reports that drive decisions. - Know where AI adds real value and apply it to build smarter solutions in line with Allica’s policies. - Work with Data Engineering/Product to resolve data quality and lineage issues and maintain data standards and documentation. - Influence stakeholders with clear insight and share knowledge within and outside the team. Constructively challenge proposed approaches and suggest better alternatives. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES & EXPERIENCE - Naturally curious, proactive self-starter who goes in depth, drives their own work and thrives in a fast-paced environment. - Confident to challenge the status quo, think outside the box and explain technical detail in business terms. - Strong SQL with hands-on GCP/BigQuery and Python experience for data transformation and automation. - Experience building dashboards in Looker (LookML preferred). - Good knowledge of data models and how best to implement solutions; experience untangling complex data lineage preferred. - Experience working with BI semantic layers (Looker preferred) - AI enthusiast who knows how and where to use AI and is excited to build things and influence the business. - Financial Services/Banking/Fintech experience preferred but not essential. - Strong understanding of data flows across complex systems (particularly lending or financial services) - Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions - Structured, engineering-led approach to problem solving Working at Allica Bank At Allica Bank we want to ensure our employees have the right tools and environment in which to succeed in their role and in support of our customers.
