About the role

About the role At YoungOnes, you make sure our platform delivers on its promise: stable, reliable and free of surprises for the people who use it every day. As a QA Engineer you don't work at the end of the chain, but right in the middle of our development teams. You think along before any code is written, test smartly where it matters, and act as the bridge between development, product and the rest of the company when it comes to quality. You report to the Teamlead Frontend and work daily with the frontend, mobile and backend teams. What you'll do • Think along from the start. You join refinements and help teams see the risks and impact of a feature before they start building; • Choose the right test approach. Together with the team, you decide per feature what to test automatically, what to test manually, and why; • Build and maintain automated tests. You set up tests for key platform functionality and keep them reliable; • Manual and exploratory testing. You go through the app yourself, look for edge cases and find what a script misses; • Central point of contact for bugs. Bug reports from across the company come to you. You reproduce them, gather all the information a developer needs to get started, and get them ready in Jira with the right priority; • Advise on releases. You map out risks and give clear advice on the quality of a release; • Provide insight. You collect test data and show how our software quality is doing; • Keep the balance. You help teams weigh fixing bugs against building new features. What you bring • A bachelor's level of working and thinking, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field; • At least 2 years of work experience, including at least 1 year as a QA Engineer, Software Tester or Test Automation Engineer; • Experience setting up and carrying out a test approach and test plans; • Experience with test automation and test frameworks; • You're comfortable working with AI tools and use them purposefully: to test faster and better, and to set up automated tests; • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team and with a bug tracking system, preferably Jira. • You work independently, make decisions in your own work and give advice, whether asked or not; • You're critical and analytical, take initiative and work well with developers, product and business. Nice to have • Knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and you're comfortable working with code; • You look beyond "does it work?": also at accessibility, speed, security and multilingual support. • Experience with tests that run automatically on every code change, and you know how to deal with unreliable tests; • You enjoy sharing knowledge and helping colleagues test better; • Experience testing mobile apps. We're looking for someone who sees quality as something the whole team owns. You don't just perfect your own testing work; you ask yourself what needs to change structurally so the whole team tests better. Our own values guide the way: Own it , Say it , Make it . What we offer • A gross salary between €3,400 and €4,800 based on full-time employment; • 25 vacation days, 6.5 ADV days and 1 additional holiday per calendar year, based on a 40-hour workweek; • 8% vacation pay, a pension plan, and (if you live more than 10 km from the office) a travel allowance; • We prioritize mental well-being in collaboration with our partner OpenUp; • Great perks such as: a yearly fitness budget, a freshly prepared healthy lunch every day, snacks, bi-weekly afternoon drinks, XL borrels every three months and much more;
