Position Overview:
As an Engineer – Compute Virtualization, you will join the engineering team responsible for building, supporting, and improving compute and
virtualization capabilities. Approximately 6 months or more of apprenticeship, internship, training, or equivalent hands-on experience in infrastructure, software engineering, cloud, virtualization, or related technologies.
You should understand core concepts across compute infrastructure, virtualization, operating systems, networking, storage, automation, and cloud technologies. A successful engineer progressively builds a strong foundation in compute virtualization and infrastructure, becomes more confident troubleshooting technical problems, contributes to automation and engineering work, takes increasing ownership of assigned responsibilities, and becomes a dependable member
of the team. We value curiosity, accountability, teamwork, and a strong desire to learn and grow.
What You Will Do:
• Build practical knowledge of compute, server virtualization, and infrastructure through deployment, configuration, testing, and support.
• Troubleshoot Linux/Ubuntu, virtualization, networking, infrastructure, and application issues with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Gain hands-on experience with Ansible, infrastructure APIs, automation, and configuration management.
• Develop Go engineering practices, including Git, code reviews, testing, debugging, documentation, and design discussions.
• Use metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts to monitor services and participate in production support.
• Document and share technical findings, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned.
• Collaborate across teams, communicate progress and blockers, and take on increasingly complex responsibilities as skills grow.
Technical Qualifications:
Familiarity with some of the following areas is expected:
• Server virtualization concepts and terminology, including virtual machines, hypervisors, hosts, clusters, CPU, memory, and resource allocation.
• Linux, preferably Ubuntu, including common commands and basic administration and troubleshooting.
• Fundamental compute, storage, and networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, high availability, and persistent versus ephemeral compute.
• Git and basic software-development practices; exposure to at least one low level programming language. Go/Golang experience is an advantage, not a requirement.
• REST APIs; familiarity with gRPC is an advantage.
• Automation or configuration-management concepts; exposure to Ansible is preferred.
• Testing concepts such as unit, integration, and automated testing.
• Cloud infrastructure concepts and how compute resources are provisioned and managed.
• Container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or Kubernetes, and monitoring/logging tools such as Grafana, InfluxDB, or the ELK stack, are advantages.
What We Are Looking For:
• Curiosity & learning: You investigate how systems work, ask thoughtful questions, learn from experienced engineers, and apply feedback.
• Accountability: You take ownership of assigned tasks, communicate when blocked or when help is needed, follow through on commitments, and learn from mistakes.
• Teamwork: You collaborate respectfully with engineers and partner teams, share what you know, learn from others, and contribute where needed.
• Problem solving: You approach problems logically, gather evidence from logs, documentation, error messages, and system behavior, and break larger problems into manageable pieces.
• Communication: You communicate technical inform
