About the role
Why this role exists
Manufacturing is Europe’s backbone, and it’s under pressure. More than half of manufacturing cost is decided in procurement, yet the function still runs on Excel.
Tacto is building the intelligence layer between bits and atoms, connecting the digital world of engineering with the physical world of manufacturing. It’s how AI gets into the real economy. More than 300 industrial companies already run on Tacto. We’re the category leader in DACH, backed by Sequoia and Index, and we’re just getting started.
What you'll do
Find the problems worth solving, then solve them end to end. Sit with buyers and procurement leads, work out what actually costs them money, decide what's worth building, and ship it to production, with AI doing much of the heavy lifting. You're done when it drives revenue, not when it's released. Don't wait for a PRD: make the case, or skip the case and show the prototype.
What we mean by Builder
Because of AI, we only hire Builders. No specialized roles. At Tacto, some of our Builders come from product, some from engineering, some from founding their own company. They all have one thing in common: they take a messy, unclear problem and own it from start to finish, whether it's a customer problem or a business problem. They decide what is worth doing, test the risky parts early, and see it through until it pays off. When it works, they share it, we double down, and everyone gets better.
We care about outcomes, not code quality for its own sake. What makes this fun is the loop from idea to reality, and AI just made that loop 10x shorter. There’s no room here for “my job is to solve interesting technical problems.”
What a week can look like
• A call or a plant visit with a procurement team to see how they really buy
• A prototype built with Claude Code or Cursor the next morning
• Shipping with a team of 1-3 Builders on one of the quarter's bets
Who we're looking for
Hungry, creative people who care about the result more than anything else.
• You've built something people used and owned the outcome: as a founder, in a fast-growing product team, or with a side project that you launched.
• You have commercial sense and product taste. Agency and taste are the main differentiators in today's AGI age.
• You build with AI every day. Cursor, Claude, Codex and agents are your default and you've made something real with them that wouldn't exist otherwise.
• You have strong technical intuition: you reason about data and systems rather than getting caught up in the details of code.
• You're comfortable in front of industrial customers. You are fluent in German; English is strong plus.
• You want to be in a room full of people who are fired up about what they’re building.
• Early in your career? Great. We love to bet on people with a steep learning curve.
How the process works
• Say Hello (20 min): get to know each other and the role
• Hiring Manager Interview (45 min)
• On-site day: a case with three Builders and Pool Leads (1 hour), Meet the Team (30 min)
How we work
We’re in our Munich office four days a week, with 100+ people building together every day. We measure outcomes. Trust is high and feedback is direct. We offer competitive salary and meaningful equity.
Our Background
Tacto is building the intelligence layer that connects AI to the physical world of manufacturing, starting with procurement. AI is transforming every industry, but it stops at the factory gate. The knowledge that holds manufacturing together - part costs, suppliers, materials - is scattered across systems and people. Over 50% of a product's cost originates from suppliers, making procurement the single largest cost lever in manufacturing and the missing connection between the digital and the physical world. Yet
