About the role
Join SE3 Labs as Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer
Join our new Software Platform team and make the devices, networks and compute behind SE3's autonomy run reliably, so our engineers can focus on what they do best.
About SE3
SE3 Labs builds spatial intelligence and autonomy software for unmanned systems. We combine 3D computer vision, state estimation and AI to help autonomous platforms perceive their surroundings, know where they are and operate when GPS and other sensors become unreliable. Defence is a core application of our work today.
We are growing to a team of 100+ people. Join at a stage where you can shape our Software Platform team , help build the team and grow your responsibilities as the company expands.
Our founding team's research has received more than 90,000 citations. You will work closely with technical founders and engineers with deep experience in computer vision and autonomous systems, turning that research depth into systems that work in the field.
About the Role
As Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be a founding member of our new Software Platform team and own everything infrastructure apart from cybersecurity: software distribution to our platforms, device provisioning, networks, our compute cluster and CI. You'll work on-site in Munich alongside our cybersecurity engineer and the CV, robotics and firmware teams, with occasional visits to our second site.
What You'll Work On
• Over-the-Air Updates: Unify our separate update and software distribution setups for Jetson, NXP and other edge nodes into one reliable system for every platform.
• Device Provisioning: Provision, configure and maintain Linux-based edge devices, workstations and ground systems, including ARM64 platforms.
• Deployment Automation: Build reproducible container images, deployments, device configuration, release workflows and recovery procedures, with Bash and Python tooling.
• Networks & Remote Access: Design and troubleshoot connectivity across networked and remote devices, including routing, SSH, VPNs, firewalls and constrained field links.
• Compute Cluster & CI: Make our GPU compute and evaluation cluster and self-hosted CI runners reliable, so engineers can depend on them without manual recovery.
• Monitoring & Documentation: Improve monitoring, service availability, security hygiene and operational documentation, working closely with our cybersecurity engineer.
• Engineering Standards: Set the infrastructure standards our teams follow, and support firmware, robotics, CV and test teams in the lab and the field.
Your Profile
• You take ownership across many areas at once and enjoy covering several roles in a small team, from planning a system to fixing it by hand.
• You hold a degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• You bring around five years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, DevOps or Linux systems engineering, ideally in a small IT or platform team, and you can point to real systems you built and ran.
• You have distributed and updated software across large fleets of devices, whether laptops, servers or embedded systems.
• You have strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, write reliable Bash and Python automation, and understand your systems well enough to catch the edge cases tools miss.
• You can debug IP networks end to end, including routing, DNS, SSH, VPNs and firewalls, and you're experienced with Docker and container deployment.
• You speak fluent English; German is a plus. Given the nature of SE3's work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain the relevant security clearance.
Especially Valued Bonus Skills
• Embedded Linux on NVIDIA Jetson or NXP, Yocto/BSP, flashing or h
