About the role
The Channel Marketing Manager, SME helps deliver Shawbrook's marketing plans across our SME brands (Shawbrook, ThinCats, JBR and Playter) and key propositions. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, SME and broader Marketing team, along with wider stakeholders across the business, the role focuses on turning strategy into effective, well-executed marketing activity that drives clear commercial outcomes.
Many of our SME customers come to us through brokers, dealers and other intermediaries. The role has a particular focus on helping them understand our products and feel confident recommending us. It is a hands-on role that combines planning with delivery. You will plan and run campaigns and content, and shape events with our Events team, keeping everything on time, on brief and on budget
A core expectation of the role is maintaining a strong understanding of the SME market. This includes gathering and applying insight into customer needs, intermediary behaviour, competitor activity and wider market trends, and using this insight to inform planning, optimisation and recommendations.
Marketing at Shawbrook is built around specialist teams for PR, content, social and events. As Channel Marketing Manager, you are the link between those teams and the SME brands and teams. You own the SME channel plans for your SME brands and shape what we say and when. You agree priorities with each team and bring them in at the right time, so all the work pulls in the same direction.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Planning & Delivery
• Own and manage the SME channel plans for your allocated SME brands and products.
• Turn agreed business goals into clear activity, with a way to measure whether it worked.
• Manage the day-to-day delivery of campaigns, content and digital activity, making sure they are delivered on time, on brief and to budget.
• Suggest priorities, timings and improvements to the Head of Marketing, SME.
Plan Ownership & Orchestration
• Build and manage the channel plan for each of your SME brands, with clear targets and owners.
• Brief the PR, content, social and events teams, and agree timings and priorities with them.
• Spot gaps and overlaps across the plans and sort them out early.
• Keep plans up to date so everyone knows who is doing what.
Intermediary & Channel Marketing
• Deliver marketing that helps brokers, dealers and other intermediaries promote and distribute Shawbrook Group's SME propositions.
• Develop intermediary-facing messaging, content and toolkits that support sales conversations and improve conversion.
• Deliver programmes that drive intermediary engagement, education and advocacy, including onboarding and nurture activity.
• Ensure marketing activity is designed to influence measurable outcomes across the intermediary funnel, not just awareness or engagement.
Measurement, Reporting & Insight
• Track and report on how SME marketing is performing against agreed targets.
• Help build and use dashboards and reports that show impact and support decisions.
• Use results and market insight to improve campaigns and suggest changes to plans.
• Contribute to performance updates for senior colleagues, covering results, what we learned and what to do next.
Existing Customer Marketing
• Support marketing to existing SME customers alongside work to win new ones.
• Deliver activity that encourages repeat business, cross-selling and recommendations.
• Work with Portfolio and Product teams on tools, content and insight that help them grow customer relationships.
Brand & Proposition Marketing
• Deliver clear, consistent marketing for your brands, and stay across all four (Shawbrook, ThinCats, JBR and Playter).
• Follow group brand principles while adjusting tone and style for each brand and audience.
