About the role
Nottingham Trent House (95002), United Kingdom, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
Data Analytics Manager (Individual Contributor)
Our Mission
We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list.
Hear from our team about what it’s like working at Capital One UK.
About the Role
• Shape the future of UK Data by embedding data architecture, governance, and business context right at the inception of major strategic initiatives.
• Champion semantic clarity and data lineage, building the foundational metadata layer required for modern AI and agentic tooling to safely consume enterprise data.
• Translate complex, ambiguous commercial intent across marketing, decisioning, and MI into robust, scalable, and buildable data requirements.
• Lead high-impact initiatives as a senior individual contributor, delivering strategic influence and technical authority without direct people management.
• Design and deliver reusable data services that eliminate repetitive build cycles and establish high-quality data practices as the effortless organisational standard.
What you’ll do
• Partner with cross-functional project teams at inception to establish data requirements, lineage, and governance before solutions are finalised.
• Capture semantic definitions and conceptual relationships from day one, establishing an AI-ready data catalogue rather than relying on retrospective clean-ups.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to deliver data solutions such as Reporting, Decisioning, and MI to translate business ambitions into dependable data services.
• Design, engineer, and promote reusable data services and products to ensure teams across the business do not reinvent data infrastructure from scratch.
• Act as a trusted, authoritative voice for Data in non-technical and executive forums, minimising project delivery risk and late-stage rework.
The skills and experience you need
• Extensive experience in data analysis, data strategy, or data management within large, complex, and fast-paced enterprise environments.
• Proven track record operating as a senior individual contributor, driving outcomes, building credibility, and influencing senior stakeholders without direct reporting lines.
• Strong practical knowledge of semantic data modelling, metadata management, and data cataloguing principles essential for AI-ready data ecosystems.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, alongside practical working familiarity with AWS cloud services (exposure to Java is an advantageous bonus).
• Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous commercial strategy into concrete technical requirements, with an awareness of agentic AI tooling and modern workflows.
