About the role
Finance & Accounting Manager (m/f/d)
Building a finance function from zero is rare — doing it at a fast-growing robotics AI company is rarer. Sereact is scaling internationally (Germany, US, Switzerland), and our Director Accounting is looking for a smart early hire to build our finance function together: processes, systems, and standards, from day one. You'll work directly with leadership and help take the group through its first statutory audit. Based on-site at our Stuttgart headquarters.
Who We Are
Sereact builds AI that lets robots sense, reason, and act in the real world — in warehouses and factories. Our mission is to redefine how physical work gets done, and we're looking for curious, bold people who want to make a real difference.
Overview
Working side by side with our Director Accounting, you'll help bring bookkeeping in-house, help shape our finance systems setup (including how we use Odoo alongside DATEV), and get us ready for our first statutory audit — working closely with the founders and our external tax and audit partners. We value people who work independently, take initiative, and build rather than wait for the perfect setup.
Your Responsibilities
• Day-to-day accounting: Own the books (general and sub-ledgers) and gradually bring bookkeeping in-house from our external provider.
• Payments & working capital: Run accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the payment process.
• Closing & audit: Prepare monthly and quarterly closes under HGB and support the annual financial statements, including our first-ever statutory audit.
• Systems: Help shape our finance systems and decide the target setup — whether Odoo replaces DATEV or runs first as a subledger alongside it.
• Partners: Be the day-to-day counterpart to our tax advisors and auditors.
• Process & automation: Build our finance processes and first automations hand in hand with our Director Accounting, including group-wide topics around our US and CH entities.
Qualifications
• A degree (business, finance, or a related field) is preferred — but above all we're looking for smart, analytical people who learn fast. Solid HGB fundamentals and hands-on DATEV (or comparable) experience matter more to us than a specific certificate.
• Experience with monthly and annual closes; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
• A hands-on, builder mindset — you like building from scratch and don't wait for finished processes or a team. No need for a perfect résumé.
• You're comfortable with ambiguity and fast change and structure things yourself — pragmatic over perfectionist, but with a clear sense of when rigor matters (closing, audit).
• Tool- and automation-savvy; you use modern tools and AI as a matter of course (Odoo or ERP experience is a plus).
• Fluent German and good English.
Our Interview Plan
• Application: Apply via our careers page with your CV — a few lines on why this role interests you are welcome.
• Technical fit interview, including a live case study (40 min): A deeper dive into your accounting know-how and problem-solving approach. Together we'll work through a short, role-relevant case — no prep needed, we're interested in how you think.
• Cultural fit interview (40 min): A conversation about how you work, what motivates you, and what you're looking for. Expect CV highlights, your “why,” and time for your questions.
• On-site visit in Stuttgart, including a founder interview: Meet the team in our office, talk with one of our founders, and get a clear feel for the role and environment.
What We Offer
• Real ownership: build the finance function from scratch together with our Director Accounting, with direct exposure to the founders.
• Grow with the function: as Sereact scales, your scope and responsibilities grow with it.
• Wellpass (gym membership)
