About the role
Hyperscale Power is building the power backbone for the AI data center era: a complete power conversion chain from 13.8kV–35kV medium-voltage AC down to 800V DC, combining ultra-compact SiC-based power blocks. Our Solid-State Transformers (SSTs) are the core of this revolution, providing unprecedented control, efficiency, and compactness.
As a System Architect, you will be responsible for our solid-state transformer as a complete system. You will connect the work of our power electronics, magnetics, and mechanical and thermal engineering teams into one coherent system, and ensure it meets the requirements of hyperscale data center customers.
Instead of specializing in a single subsystem, your mission is to keep the whole system in view: balancing efficiency, size, cost, reliability and manufacturability, guiding the key technical trade-offs, and taking our SST from prototype to a product ready for certification and series production.
This role is for you if…
you’ve owned a complex high-power system rather than one part of it. You enjoy keeping the whole picture in view, making the call on trade-offs between expert teams, and bringing just enough structure to a fast-moving team without slowing it down.
This role isn’t for you if…
you’ve spent your career going deep on a single component or subsystem, or you manage projects without making the technical decisions yourself. It’s also not a fit if you need a fixed specification and established processes before you can start.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the system architecture of the SST and its key performance metrics, including efficiency, power density, cost, thermal performance, reliability, manufacturability and control performance.
• Coordinate the subsystems of the SST (AC/DC, DC/DC, magnetics, mechanical and thermal) and their interfaces, ensuring the work of each team is compatible and consistent with the system design.
• Lead system-level trade-off decisions and set technical priorities across teams.
• Define and maintain system requirements, interface specifications and change management, ensuring design changes are assessed for their impact across the system.
• Translate the requirements of data center operators and hyperscalers into system specifications, and track how they evolve.
• Explore and compare different system architectures and their integration in the datacenter power supply chain
• Drive standardization and design for manufacturing across subsystems in preparation for series production.
• Work with the compliance and certification team to define a feasible certification path for the system.
• Identify technical risks at system level early and propose mitigations.
Qualifications
• MSc or a higher degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of industry experience in developing complex power electronic systems.
• Proven responsibility at system or platform level, e.g. as system engineer, system architect, technical lead or team lead.
• Track record of taking power electronic systems from development to series product.
• Experience with high-power systems such as EV charging, electric drivetrains, rail traction, industrial drives, renewable energy converters or robotics.
• Broad understanding of the electrical, magnetic, thermal, mechanical and control aspects of power electronic systems, and how they interact.
• Working knowledge of cooling concepts and the mechanical integration of high-power electronics.
• Experience with standards, norms and certification processes for power electronic products.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills; able to align experts across disciplines and drive decisions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements.
