About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE The Director of Electrical Engineering is a senior technical and people leader within the Product Development organization, responsible for the electrical and electronic systems across our entire product portfolio. This role leads a team of electrical engineers developing complex, connected consumer products from early concept and architecture through design, verification, certification, manufacturing launch, and sustaining engineering. The Director establishes the technical direction and engineering standards for the organization while ensuring programs meet performance, quality, reliability, cost, schedule, safety, and manufacturability objectives. The successful candidate combines strong technical depth with organizational leadership. They are comfortable moving between product architecture, detailed design reviews, difficult technical problem solving, supplier discussions, organizational planning, and executive-level communication. They develop strong engineers, create an environment of technical rigor and accountability, and work effectively across disciplines to deliver exceptional products. YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON • Lead a team of approximately 20 engineers and support personnel located both in the Woodinville and Taiwan offices. Develop, encourage, and drive the team to produce their best work for the company • Provide technical guidance and final decision making authority on all product electrical architectures. Provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept feasibility through architecture development, prototyping, mass production, and sustaining engineering • Ensure appropriate engineering rigor while maintaining the speed and flexibility required in a fast-moving product development environment • Ensure the appropriate balance of internal development with ODM, JDM, contract engineering, and supplier-developed solutions • Ensure the availability of adequate facilities, equipment, and software tools • Lead and participate in architecture reviews, schematic reviews, PCB/layout reviews, design reviews, failure investigations, and technical readiness reviews • Drive root-cause analysis of complex hardware and system-level failures using structured, data-driven problem-solving methods • Ensure designs meet applicable regulatory, safety, EMC, environmental, and product-specific requirements, including relevant UL, IEC, FCC, CE and other global standards • Champion design for reliability, manufacturability, testability, cost, serviceability, and quality throughout development • Develop reusable architectures, platforms, design methodologies, and technologies that improve engineering efficiency and accelerate future product development • Partner with Product Management, Program Management, Mechanical Engineering, Software/Firmware, Industrial Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Safety/Compliance, and other functions to successfully deliver products • Establish staffing and resource plans across multiple concurrent development programs and balance near-term program needs with longer-term technology development • Communicate technical status, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders • Build productive relationships with suppliers while maintaining clear ownership of product requirements, technical decisions, quality, and engineering standards • Make timely decisions when faced with incomplete information and drive teams toward resolution rather than allowing technical uncertainty to stall programs YOU BRING TO PELOTON • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s preferred • Minimum 10 years of significant experience developing the electronics hardware for complex electromechanical co
