The Impact You’ll Make in this Role The person hired for the position of Electrical Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Mechanic Sr) will Install, maintain, and repair machinery & equipment, physical structures, piping and instrument and/or electrical systems as required to support production, with a focus on electrical troubleshooting and resolution . This job will also require the operation and maintenance of the plant utility systems which includes steam boilers, air compressors, fire protection, electrical generator and water purification.  This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.  As an Electrical Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Mechanic Sr) you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: • Leading maintenance activities that keep production equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently, applying electrical and controls expertise while collaborating with teammates and partners to address equipment needs and support production goals. • Implementing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, piping, instruments, electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and VFD-driven systems using established procedures, manufacturer guidance, electrical schematics, and technical documentation. • Determining equipment condition and repair needs through inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and equipment-related issues while minimizing downtime. • Supporting a safe, organized, and compliant work environment by following safety and environmental practices, maintaining good housekeeping, addressing unsafe conditions, maintaining accurate equipment records, and participating in 5S, 5D problem solving, SQDC, and Lean Management System activities. • Responding to scheduled and emergency maintenance needs, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, instrumentation, and other automated equipment, while contributing to the broader success of the department through effective communication, plant computer systems, ongoing skill development, and other maintenance activities as needed. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws. • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) • Possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in one of the following fields: pipefitter, welder, electrician, instrument/electronics technician, HVAC-R, and/or millwright in a private, public, government or military environment.
