About the role

Associate Procurement Manager, Alexion R&D Location: Warsaw Hybrid Model: 3 days per week from office   At AstraZeneca, we put patients first and strive to meet their unmet needs worldwide. The Associate Procurement Manager will provide dedicated support for Source-to-Contract (S2C) activities across Alexion Research & Development (R&D). The role will partner closely with Business Stakeholders, Procurement Category Teams, Clinical Operations, Legal, Finance, Compliance and other subject matter experts to manage sourcing and contracting activities that support R&D objectives. The Associate Procurement Manager will lead complex and high-value sourcing and contracting projects, including supplier selection activities, commercial negotiations, contract drafting and review, and execution of a broad range of agreements. The role requires the ability to evaluate supplier proposals, assess commercial assumptions, support negotiation strategies and identify opportunities to improve value while managing risk. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound commercial judgment, strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build and apply category expertise within the R&D environment. The role is expected to contribute to operational excellence, knowledge continuity, standardization of ways of working and consistent service delivery across the GSCE R&D team. The Associate Procurement Manager will perform procurement activities in accordance with the Alexion Procurement Operating Model and AstraZeneca policies and procedures. Key Accountabilities Source-to-Contract Delivery • Lead end-to-end sourcing and contracting activities across R&D categories. • Execute RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and supplier selection activities. • Develop sourcing recommendations based on commercial evaluation, business requirements and procurement best practices. • Manage contract drafting, review, negotiation and execution activities. • Ensure procurement activities are completed in compliance with company policies, procedures and governance requirements. • Maintain complete and accurate procurement documentation within applicable systems and tools. Commercial Evaluation and Negotiation • Evaluate supplier proposals, pricing models, budgets and commercial assumptions. • Review change requests, Change Order Logs and contract amendments to ensure alignment with scope, business requirements and contractual commitments. • Identify commercial risks, inconsistencies, negotiation opportunities and potential value improvements. • Support stakeholders in making informed supplier selection and sourcing decisions. • Lead supplier negotiations while protecting Alexion’s commercial and contractual interests. Stakeholder Management • Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders and procurement partners across R&D, including Clinical Operations. • Provide guidance on sourcing and contracting requirements, processes and realistic timelines. • Coordinate input from Legal, Privacy, Tax, Compliance, Finance and other subject matter experts as required. • Communicate project status, risks, issues and recommendations clearly and proactively. • Support alignment and collaboration across global and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
