About the role
Job Description The Role A General Supervisor leads the operational function of a warehouse processing center or distribution center and is accountable for safe, reliable, and customer-focused warehousing activities. You will direct daily operations on an assigned shift and lead salaried and hourly employees who support accurate, timely, and high-quality customer shipments. You will establish expectations, remove operational barriers, reinforce safe work practices, and partner with employees, union representatives, site leadership, and business partners to deliver performance in a fast-paced processing-center environment. The role requires sound judgment and initiative to make decisions with limited guidance while keeping site leadership informed of significant risks, issues, and performance trends. What You’ll Do • Lead daily warehouse operations for the assigned shift, aligning staffing, material flow, equipment, and priorities with business needs. • Manage, coach, and develop salaried and hourly employees by setting expectations, providing feedback, recognizing contributions, and addressing performance concerns. • Maintain a visible safety culture by enforcing workplace safety rules, supporting ergonomics and housekeeping standards, and addressing hazards and near misses. • Monitor productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, responsiveness, and shipment performance; communicate gaps and implement timely countermeasures. • Ensure customer shipments are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule. • Build productive working relationships with employees, union representatives, site leadership, and cross-functional partners while consistently administering company policies, operating procedures, applicable labor agreement provisions, and standardized work. • Participate in staffing and selection activities, onboarding, training, qualification, and succession development. • Apply structured problem-solving and continuous-improvement methods to reduce variation, eliminate recurring issues, improve material flow, and strengthen process stability. • Ensure effective shift handoffs and escalation routines, and communicate operational risks, priorities, performance updates, and action plans to site leadership. • Partner with Quality, Materials, Maintenance, Workplace Safety, Human Resources and Labor Relations, Engineering, Transportation, and other support organizations to resolve issues and sustain performance; support GM standards, Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) practices, and site operating routines. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) • High School Diploma • 5+ years' experience leading warehouse, distribution, logistics, material-handling, manufacturing, or processing-center operations. • Strong knowledge of warehouse execution, inventory control, shipping and receiving, material flow, and customer-service requirements. • Ability to work effectively with union representatives and cross-functional business partners. • Ability to work a nonstandard schedule, including assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, or schedule changes as business needs require. • Ability to use standard business and operational systems to review performance, document actions, and communicate results. What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications) • Experience in automotive aftermarket, parts distribution, warehouse processing, or a comparable high-volume operation. • Experience leading a union-represented workforce or working under applicable labor agreement provisions. • Experience with warehouse management systems, automated storage and retrieval systems, material-handling equipment, or related technologies. • Familiarity with Global Manufacturing Systems (GM
