As a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer – Level 4 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. Project Engineers are responsible for planning and execution of technical work supporting Development, Qualification, and Production of the Solid Rocket motors. Sentinel Project Engineers manage the technical scope and deliverables associated with SRM Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Strong leadership and organizational skills, and a fundamental knowledge of engineering concepts are required. Familiarity with SRM design, operation, and manufacturing techniques is preferred. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Coordinate with both internal NG and external USG customers • Develop engineering execution plan to meet master schedules • Lead hardware design, analysis, and production engineering in the ongoing development and manufacture of Sentinel SRMs • Ensure completion of engineering deliverables; assert compliance to configuration management requirements • Support production operations • Ensure qualification static test objectives are met via coordination with hardware teams • Coordinate with Systems Engineering teams to ensure effective requirement decomposition and traceability • Identify and mitigate risks • Coordinate and conduct deliverable reviews • Lead problem and failure investigations • Lead technical reporting efforts • Perform presentations to internal and external customers • Travel expectation: 5% – 10% • Other duties as assigned Why you? Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree (STEM) with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience. • Ability to reference and interpret engineering drawings and solid models • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance • Ability to work with energetic materials as a U. S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, firearms and explosives. • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years in solid rocket motor design / manufacturing. Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated flexibility in managing technical solutions given changing customer requirements • Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with high value
