About the role

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators. At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there. A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone. The User Life Cycle team owns how people discover Roblox, become active, and stay engaged over time. Growth and Marketing are central to that journey, and the quality of our data determines how well we can invest: which channels bring in people who stay, which campaigns actually move the needle, and where people drop out of the funnel. As a Senior Data Engineer embedded in Growth Org, you will build the data foundation behind our marketing measurement and growth flywheel. That includes the pipelines and models that power Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), multi-touch and incrementality-based attribution, and end-to-end funnel analytics from first touch to long-term retention. You will work side by side with Marketing, Data Science and Product, and you will report directly to the Engineering Director. You Will: • Design, build and operate reliable batch and streaming pipelines that unify paid, owned and organic marketing data (spend, impressions, installs, sessions, conversions) with in-platform user behavior. • Own the data foundation for MMM: build well-documented, versioned, analysis-ready datasets and backfills that Data Science can use to train, refresh and validate models on a regular cadence. • Partner with Marketing and Data Science to build attribution and funnel data products, and to define shared metrics (acquisition, activation, retention, reactivation, LTV) that the whole organization can trust. • Architect event taxonomies and logging standards for acquisition and lifecycle events, and influence client and server instrumentation across product surfaces. • Integrate with ad channel platforms, mobile measurement partners and other third-party sources, with strong attention to data quality, freshness, identity resolution and privacy-safe design. • Set standards for table design, data quality monitoring, observability, lineage and documentation used across the Growth and Marketing space. • Support experimentation and incrementality work (geo tests, holdouts, lift studies) by making experiment data easy to join to spend and outcomes. • Mentor other engineers, raise the bar on data practices, and collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Infrastructure and ML Platform teams to leverage shared tooling. • Work with partner teams across Roblox to make sure our measurement approach respects user privacy and safety and reflects our community-first values. You Have: • 8+ years of industry experience as a data engineer or data-focused software engineer building scalable batch and streaming pipelines (SQL and Python, PySpark or Scala). • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster or similar) and large-scale data processing (Spark, Flink, Kafka or similar), including multi-terabyte datasets. • Strong data modeling skills: you have designed dimensional or event-based models that analysts and data scientists rely on every day. • Experience working directly with business and data science partners to turn ambiguous questions into durable data product
