The Impact You Will Make in this Rol e In this role, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by providing technical leadership for collecting business critical product development data to improve the process. You will enable growth within the business group through new product development improvement using data and analytical techniques and collaborate with cross-divisional teams to define, develop, and deploy solutions in alignment with enterprise-wide standards and strategies. Lead intellectual property creation and protection for innovative and groundbreaking solutions. As a Data Engineer you will play a critical role in modernizing how product development data is captured, integrated, and used across the organization. By connecting key systems and enabling AI-ready data foundations, this role will help improve development processes, accelerate innovation, and support strategic business growth.  Your Skills and Expertise  To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. • Experience in data engineering, system integration, data architecture, or related technical roles. • Experience building data pipelines using tools such as SQL, Python, Spark, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Snowflake, or similar technologies. • Demonstrated experience integrating data across enterprise systems, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms. • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data quality, and data governance principles. • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. • Experience supporting analytics, AI, or machine learning initiatives through structured data preparation and pipeline development. • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and translate business needs into technical solutions. • Advanced English. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, chemical, materials science, engineering, or product development environments. • Familiarity with systems such as PLM, LIMS, MES, ERP, CRM, QMS, or engineering data platforms • Knowledge of AI/ML data requirements, feature engineering, vector databases, or knowledge graph concepts. • Experience with master data management, metadata management, and data cataloging tools. • Understanding of product development lifecycle processes, stage-gate models, experimentation, testing, and commercialization workflows. • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
