The Boeing Company is looking for a Mechanical Parts Engineer (Bearings & Bushings) to join the Mechanical Parts team in Huntington Beach, CA. This position is for a bearings, lubricants, and/or materials tribologist engineer who shares a passion for hands-on lab testing and materials engineering with a mindset for supporting production, drawing reviews, failure investigation, root cause solutions, and research and development testing. Job role will consist of custodianship, research & development testing, requirements & engineering drawing reviews, and writing test plans & reports. Excellent communication skills and professionalism are of importance, as you will communicate across Boeing teams and to our external customers. Position Responsibilities: • Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products • Reviews of engineering drawings for fleet maintenance and design to ensure quality of our aircrafts • Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes • Conducts and supports R&D testing in lab environment to meet programs requirements and qualifications of products • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs • Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes • Assists in failure analysis strategies while implementing corrective and preventive actions • Uses project management tools to plan and implement project costs & schedule, technical requirements, and produce products • Works under general direction Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; (Chemical, Aerospace, or Mechanical is preferred.) • 3+ years of experience with manufacturing processes for fasteners and/or bearings • 2+ years of experience with material testing, writing test plans, conducting tests, and writing test reports • 2+ years of experience in engineering test support within a test lab environment Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): • Experience in reading and understanding part standards and process specifications • Has Strong self project management skills & software knowledge (excel, Microsoft project, milestones, etc) • Works directly with suppliers to improve engineering practices, solve issues, and recommend areas of improvement • Ability to understand and draft engineering drawings and requirements • Experience in the design, testing, and failures of bushings and bearings.
