The Boeing Company is looking for a Metals & Welding Engineer to join the Mechanical Parts team in Huntington Beach, CA. This is for an engineer who shares a passion for metallic materials and welding knowledge, hands on experience, with a mindset for supporting production, investigation and root cause solutions, and testing. Job role will consist of custodianship, research & development testing, writing weld schedules, test plans & reports. Excellent communication skills and professionalism are of importance, as you will communicate across Boeing teams and to our external customers. Position Responsibilities: • Ability to understand and implement engineering specifications and requirements to qualify suppliers for raw material, parts and processes • Assists in evaluation of supplier issues with raw material processing, and engineering practices • Conducts and supports R&D testing in lab environment to meet programs requirements and qualification of products • Uses project management tools to plan and implement project costs & schedule, technical requirements, and produce products • Ability to provide hands on support for establishing weld schedules and performing welds • Ability to communicate requirements clearly to Boeing partners and customers. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, (material science, or Chemical is preferred.) • 2+ years of experience with metallic materials and metallic processes • 1+ years of experience with material testing, writing test plans, conducting tests, and writing test reports • Experience with material processing for metals (e.g., welding, heat treat, cold spray) • Experience with welding and/or metallurgical specifications Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): • Experience in reading and understanding part standards and process specifications • Has strong self project management skills .
